Job Summary

The Team

The Omineca Regional Management Team is a close-knit group of 12 professionals focused on sustainable forest management, stewardship, First Nations reconciliation, and supporting local communities.

The team is highly collaborative, working closely with other managers, team leads, and staff to make a meaningful impact.

The Role

As the Director of Strategic Initiatives you will be leading the development of Forest Landscape Plans, you'll oversee a team dedicated to shaping sustainable forest management while building and maintaining key relationships with First Nations, forest licensees, local governments, and other partners.

Your work will have a direct impact on the environment and local economy, ensuring the long-term health of our forests. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about bringing diverse interests together and making a meaningful contribution to both communities and forests.

Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements

Post-secondary education in a field related to natural resource management, business / public administration, First Nations' studies, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Preference may be given for post-secondary education in a natural resource management related field (such as forestry, agrology, etc.).

  • Five (5) or more years' experience in natural resource management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a management capacity dealing with politically sensitive and / or provincially significant issues.
  • Experience managing and leading geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Must have a valid BC Class 5 BC Driver's Licence (or equivalent).

Preference may be given for one or both of the following :

  • Experience developing policy, procedures and corporate practices.
  • Five (5) or more years experience working with First Nations' communities and facilitating First Nations' consultations or negotiations.
  • Experience in a senior management capacity including business and organizational planning.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.

This position is excluded from union membership.
