Remmen Brakes is a company focused on delivering exceptional safety, efficiency, and performance for the modern-day vehicle through advanced braking technologies. We are spearheading the transition to digital brakes through the development of our proprietary Nonlinear Electro-Mechanical Brake (NEMB) technology and are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team.

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of software and control systems for our ASIL-compliant NEMB product. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, motivated, and broadly capable engineer with a strong background in embedded software development, functional safety (ISO 26262), and real-time control systems. This role requires expertise in software architecture, development, testing, and integration for safety-critical applications in the automotive or industrial domain.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead the software design, development, and validation of our NEMB system from initial prototype through to production.
  • Develop the expertise to be a hands-on software and controls expert for the NEMB, with intimate and deep knowledge of how the system is built, functions, and meets its goals.
  • Work closely with the team to define software requirements, perform design, coding, and testing per ISO 26262.
  • Create test methods, software, scripts, and hardware to support system integration and test activities.
  • Conduct software verification and validation using model-based design, static analysis, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Optimize software performance for embedded microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Lead code reviews, hazard analysis, FMEA, and fault injection testing to ensure software reliability and robustness.
  • Support testing and system integration, debugging, and validation at third-party facilities.

Education and Experience Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Software, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development for safety-critical systems.
  • Strong experience working with MATLAB, MATLAB Simulink, microcontrollers, real-time operating systems (RTOS), software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing.
  • Strong familiarity with Artificial Intelligence tools and best practices.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience with electromechanical systems, drive-by-wire, or ADAS applications.
  • Knowledge of Python, scripting tools, and CI / CD for embedded software.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, SPI, UART).
  • Certification in functional safety (ISO 26262, IEC 61508) or software engineering best practices.
  • Proven experience in leading teams in the development of software-defined products.
  • Familiarity and an understanding of vehicle dynamics and the role of brakes in vehicle dynamics.
