Project Overview:
Bechtel, along with its sub-vendors Bantrel and Comtech, has been appointed as the Delivery Partner (DP) for the Ontario Line (OL) Project in Toronto, Canada. The OL is a brand-new metro line serving some of Toronto’s busiest districts and brings much needed additional connectivity and capacity to the city’s public transport network. The project scope includes the design, build, operation and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new underground, surface and elevated track. The OL project is being delivered through various Public-Private-Partnership (P3), progressive design-build (PDBs) and traditional procurement contracts. The OL is slated to open for passenger service in 2031. The DP, the customer Metrolinx and the Technical Advisor (TA) are working together as the Integrated Project Team (IPT) to manage the delivery of the project.
The OL SSRP is established under the authority of the Ontario Line Subway Safety Governing Body, chaired by the Metrolinx Chief Safety Officer as the Accountable Executive for safety. The SSRP is a decision-making safety review body that makes recommendations to, and supports the functions of, the Ontario Line Subway Safety Governing Body.
Job Summary:
Bechtel / Bantrel / Comtech is seeking a technical coordinator for a short term assignment with strong administrative and writing skills for the Ontario Line System Safety Review Panel (OL SSRP), which is a key part of the Metrolinx assurance regime.
The SSRP Coordinator is responsible for formal record keeping and supports the efficient operation of the Ontario Line System Safety Review Panel (OL SSRP).
The SSRP Coordinator reports to the Ontario Line SSRP Secretary.#LI-RM1
Major Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a meeting calendar for the OL SSRP including clinics and endorsement meetings, that support the timely review of incoming documents.
- Maintain formal and auditable records including meeting minutes and a decision log for the OL SSRP.
- Author monthly SSRP report, as per the requirements of the Metrolinx Assurance regime.
- Create and maintain a tracker or database for endorsement conditions by the panel and provide status reports until resolution.
- Liaise with stakeholders including PDT (PTT central members), PDT deployed members and other SSRPs and MSCC
- Highlight and track gaps and inconsistencies within submissions
- Manage the timely distribution of Project Company submissions and other briefing documents to the SSRP members.
- Author monthly SSRP report, as per the requirements of the SRP and MSCC
- Author OL SSRP Mandate in alignment with MSCC TOR and SRP Mandate
- Liaise as needed with representatives from various bodies and functions involved in SSRP submissions, including but not limited to document control, assurance managers, other SSRPs, and the MSCC.
- Maintain a tracker for MSCC scheduled approval meetings, provide relevant status updates to SCC team
- Support collection of data, metrics, and forecasts related to SSRP activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement of SSRP processes, workflows, and tracking tools
- Support development of structured review packages and briefing materials for panel meetings
- Assist in the collection of data and forecasts related to the OL SSRP.
- Extend support to any emerging sub panels of the OL SSRP
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or related field and 2-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor’s Degree 6-9 years relevant experience in engineering design, construction or infrastructure industry; qualifications in construction, project management, project controls, document control or technical writing are desirable.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- A general understanding of engineering and construction procedures, principles, and concepts.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, assurance, whole project life cycle and its implementation on large railway infrastructure projects is an asset.
- Experience working with teams and stakeholders in the development and delivery of large infrastructure projects. Ability to communicate across different technical disciplines (e.g. engineering, construction, testing & commissioning).
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Fluent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Apps, Power BI, Microsoft Forms and smartsheet is desirable.
- Good interpersonal skills, including with senior management, and proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
- Self-starter with strong communication skills both verbal and written.
