Job description

Our Calgary client is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Solution Architect to join their Enterprise Architecture team for a 1-year contract with the strong potential for extension. This is a high-impact, advisory role where you will guide the design of complex, multi-system solutions across a hybrid cloud environment. If you enjoy the challenge of translating intricate business needs into clear, scalable architecture models, this is the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise.

Advantages

  • Work in a hybrid environment with two days of remote flexibility per week to support your work-life balance.
  • Lead high-level design for a variety of complex projects involving modern tech stacks like Azure, SAP S4 / HANA, and Databricks.
  • Collaborate with a specialized team of subject matter experts in cloud, security, and networking, allowing you to focus on overall solution leadership.
  • Secure a long-term, 1-year initial contract with a high likelihood of extension in a stable, asset-intensive industry.
  • Influence the architectural direction of a major organization without the requirement of performing hands-on technical implementation or coding.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain comprehensive architecture artifacts including logical and physical models, C4 diagrams, and data flow views.
  • Produce High-Level Designs (HLD) that serve as the authoritative reference for delivery teams to execute against.
  • Define end-to-end solutions that align with enterprise strategy, technology standards, and long-term roadmaps.
  • Establish non-functional requirements for security, performance, scalability, and resilience to ensure high-quality solution delivery.
  • Design resiliency and disaster recovery capabilities, ensuring all patterns meet operational readiness and cyber security standards.
  • Facilitate architectural governance by reviewing designs with stakeholders and presenting options to the Architecture Review Board.
  • Provide advisory support during the build phase to clarify design expectations and validate that the final implementation matches the intended architecture.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of professional experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in progressive IT solution design, architecture, or engineering roles.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure services, hybrid cloud environments, and integration patterns such as APIs and event-driven systems.
  • Proven experience using architecture modeling tools like Lucidchart or Ardoq to document complex systems.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical risks and architectural trade-offs to both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Summary

If you are a visionary architect who thrives on solving complex puzzles and providing the blueprint for enterprise success, we want to hear from you. Please apply directly to this job ad or reach out to your Randstad Digital representative immediately!
