- Max Rate: $100–$110 CAD/hour (Based On Experience)
- Hours: 7.25 hours/day
- Hours per Week: 36.25
- Initial Contract: 3 months
- Potential Extension: Up to 24 months
- Interview: Expected to start prior to September 2026
- Travel: May be required within Alberta

Project Overview
The Government of Alberta requires up to three Digital Architects to support service innovation, program review, and digital transformation initiatives across the Government of Alberta.
The Digital Architect will work with cross-functional product teams led by GoA Product Owners, supporting activities such as:
- Digital service transformation
- Solution and software architecture
- Agile product delivery
- User-centric/citizen-centered service design
- Technical discovery and feasibility
- System modernization and integration
- Backlog refinement and sprint planning
- Architecture standards and governance
- Technical leadership and developer mentorship
Key Responsibilities
- Lead solution architecture for digital services.
- Develop architectural plans aligned with citizen-centered design and Agile delivery.
- Analyze existing systems and define future-state architecture.
- Provide technical discovery, prototypes, and feasibility recommendations.
- Design scalable, iterative, cloud-native solutions.
- Identify integration strategies, system boundaries, and reusable components.
- Review code changes and contribute to development when required.
- Guide developers, technical leads, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams.
- Assess architectural risks, impacts, and exposures.
- Support modernization of legacy systems into modern digital services.
- Develop architecture documentation, diagrams, presentations, and technical materials.
- Establish and improve architecture principles, standards, and service-quality metrics.
- Collaborate with UX, Service Design, Design Thinking, and Human-Centered Design teams.
- Support continuous improvement of the GoA architecture practice.

- Containerization, orchestration, and Infrastructure-as-Code – 2+ years
- Relational and non-relational databases, schema design, and performance optimization – 2+ years
- Public-sector digital service frameworks or enterprise architecture standards – 4+ years
Mandatory Project Experience
Each candidate must provide 2 project/assignment examples demonstrating Digital Architect expertise.
Each project should cover:
- Project Overview – scope, objectives, and candidate's Digital Architect responsibilities.
- Sector Context – public or private sector; public-sector experience preferred.
- Project Complexity & Scope – systems, users/departments, modernization, cloud migration, releases, team size, security/compliance, etc.
- Delivery Approach – architecture, Agile/DevSecOps, development, QA, risk mitigation, communication, and enterprise standards.
- Skills & Technologies – architecture patterns, frameworks, cloud platforms, APIs, integrations, databases, security, etc.
Recent projects and public-sector digital transformation experience will be evaluated more favorably.
