Here's the role
The Data Systems Analyst (SQL & Database Development) supports and enhances the organization's data environment through advanced SQL development, cross system data analysis, and close collaboration with development and analytics teams. The role is responsible for designing and optimizing database objects, ensuring reliable access to data, and supporting application teams that work with both structured and unstructured data.
Position Responsibilities
- Perform advanced T‑SQL querying, data discovery, performance tuning, and validation across transactional, warehouse, and legacy systems.
- Develop ad‑hoc data queries and build custom SQL reports to meet business needs quickly; organize and promote these reporting assets to support analytics and decision‑
- Manage and optimize database schemas and structures across environments, including consolidation, cleanup, and maintenance for transactional and data‑warehouse databases.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to promote data structures via repositories, integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines, and support data migrations and integrations (data mapping, data modeling, cleansing, ETL execution, and validation).
- Support application and legacy teams by designing and maintaining database objects (tables, views, procedures), implementing schema changes, processing structured/unstructured data, and handling BAU troubleshooting.
- Perform targeted data mapping and analysis for migrations and integrations as needed.
- Enable reporting and analytics by providing data access and integrating sources using SSRS, Power BI, SSIS, and Azure Data Factory.
- Maintain accurate documentation of database structures, processes, and operational procedures.
- Maintain an understanding of ETL workflows and reporting best practices.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree, certificate or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in database development.
- Strong knowledge of relational database systems on Microsoft SQL (On-premise and Azure)
- Basic experience or familiarity with SSRS, Power BI, SSIS, Azure Data Factory for reporting and data integration tasks.
- Experience with schema management, performance tuning, and security best practices including relational and dimensional data modeling.
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
