Key Responsibilities
1 Program Material Strategy & Execution
Develop and execute comprehensive Material Program Plans and Subcontract Management Plans
Balance strategic planning with hands‑on tactical execution, ensuring material readiness aligns with program milestones.
Lead early material engagement, including early supplier involvement, long‑lead identification, and front‑end business planning.
Drive make/buy/where decisions to optimize cost, schedule, and risk.
2 Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to translate technical and schedule requirements into executable material plans.
Build and maintain strong relationships across internal teams and suppliers to ensure alignment and rapid issue resolution.
Collaborate with Product Management to proactively manage obsolescence, long‑lead items, and last‑time‑buy scenarios.
3 Planning, Proposals & Cost Management
Lead planning‑related proposal activities, including task descriptions, basis‑of‑estimate development, and material strategy definition.
Work with Engineering to rapidly develop accurate Bills of Material (BOMs) from the technical baseline, maintain configuration control, and ensure timely updates to estimating teams.
Manage material actual cost vs. should cost, identifying variances and driving corrective actions.
Support Material EACs, forecasting, and Earned Value Management activities.
4 Risk, Opportunity & Performance Management
Develop and execute risk and opportunity plans that protect program objectives and improve material performance.
Establish and monitor material performance metrics, taking proactive action to address emerging issues.
Ensure material readiness supports program schedules, revenue objectives, and customer commitments.
Required Qualifications
Experience working in the DoD Aerospace & Defense industry.
Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance at the time of hire.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience considered.
Minimum of 6 years of combined experience (graduate school may be included) across Planning, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations/Production Control, or Project Management.
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and experience using Microsoft Project.
Experience developing or reviewing EACs (Estimates at Completion).
Committed to work in a team environment
