Program Manager

PetalMontreal, Quebec, Canada

  • Full-time
Job description

Petal is a leading Canadian healthcare orchestration and medical billing company that is transforming healthcare systems by making them more agile, efficient, and resilient through advanced analytics, actionable insights, and innovative technology solutions.

Our commitment to fostering an exceptional workplace culture has earned us notable recognitions, including being named a Great Place to Work in both the technology and healthcare sectors. Join us in our mission to empower healthcare innovators and help improve healthcare differently.

What you can expect when joining the team

Do you enjoy taking ownership of complex customer programs, bringing multiple teams together, and turning ambitious commitments into clear, achievable plans?

As a Program Manager, you will lead some of Petal’s most strategic technology deployments for healthcare customers across Canada. These are complex, high-visibility programs involving large enterprise and public-sector clients, multiple internal teams, and solutions that may continue to evolve during delivery.

Reporting directly to the Chief Customer Officer, you will work closely with Professional Services and partner with Product, Customer Success and other teams across Petal. You will be the person who keeps the full program moving: aligning stakeholders, clarifying decisions, managing risks and dependencies, and ensuring that Petal and the customer deliver on their commitments.

In your day to day, you will:

  • Lead several customer deployment programs at different stages, from RFP and planning through delivery, go-live, and adoption;

  • Turn contractual commitments and customer requirements into clear program plans, milestones, responsibilities, and success criteria;

  • Coordinate internal teams and customer stakeholders, often working closely with a Program Manager or equivalent counterpart on the customer side;

  • Lead customer status meetings, internal working sessions, steering committees, and executive updates;

  • Maintain a clear view of timelines, scope, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, and decisions across multiple concurrent programs;

  • Build trusted relationships with demanding enterprise and public-sector customers and communicate confidently with sponsors and senior leaders;

  • Work closely with Product and other internal teams to identify practical ways to close product or delivery gaps while keeping customer commitments on track;

  • Anticipate problems, bring forward solutions, manage escalations, and create the sense of urgency needed to keep programs moving;

  • Support RFP work by helping assess requirements, plan delivery, and identify dependencies before a program begins;

  • Help customers reach value quickly by driving an efficient path to deployment and adoption;

  • Contribute to internal initiatives that improve program governance, delivery methods, documentation, and project management practices when capacity allows;

  • Provide flexible business-hour coverage for customers across Eastern and Pacific time zones and travel occasionally for high-value workshops or customer meetings.

Your profile

You are an experienced Program or Project Manager who knows what strong delivery looks like. You are comfortable owning a complex program from top to bottom, working through ambiguity, and taking action without waiting for detailed instructions. We would love to meet you if you have:

  • 5+ years of relevant project or program management experience, including repeated ownership of complex technology deployments;

  • A demonstrated track record of leading program governance, steering committees, and executive-level communications;

  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers, sponsors, and senior leaders in high-expectation environments;

  • Experience coordinating multiple teams and interdependent workstreams while managing competing priorities;

  • The ability to influence without direct authority and bring Product, delivery, customer, and leadership teams toward a shared outcome;

  • A practical, solutions-oriented approach to ambiguity, product gaps, risks, and changing requirements;

  • A high level of autonomy, ownership, urgency, and follow-through;

  • Strong written and spoken English, since most customers supported by this role are English-speaking and located outside Quebec;

  • The flexibility to support customers across Canadian time zones and to travel occasionally, generally no more than a few times per quarter;

  • A university degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in healthcare, hospital environments, health technology, or another regulated industry;

  • Experience delivering programs for government or other public-sector organizations;

  • French-language skills;

  • Experience with project management platforms such as Smartsheet, , or comparable tools;

  • PMP certification or graduate studies in project management;

  • Experience helping improve PMO, governance, or delivery practices within an organization.

Why join us

  • Help modernize healthcare across Canada by leading complex technology deployment programs;

  • Take ownership of highly visible customer programs and work closely with Petal’s Chief Customer Officer on strategic launches;

  • Have the autonomy to structure programs, solve complex delivery challenges, and influence important decisions;

  • Improve not only the programs you lead, but also how Petal plans and delivers complex customer deployments.

This is a fully remote role open to candidates based in Canada. Occasional business travel may be required , generally no more than a few times per quarter. Candidates should be able to provide reasonable business-hour coverage for customers across Eastern and Pacific time zones.

Our benefits

  • 4 to 6 weeks of paid vacation per year;

  • 5 paid personal days per year;

  • A group RRSP / DPSP plan with employer contribution;

  • A complete group insurance plan, from day 1;

  • An annual wellness allowance;

  • Access to the Lumino Health telehealth application;

  • Recurring remote/hybrid work allowance; In our opinion, a company cannot claim to be modern, innovative and have the well-being of their team at heart, without attempting to integrate remote working to the level that their business model allows them to.

Petal is an active participant in the equal opportunity employment program, and members of the following target groups are encouraged to apply: women, people with disabilities, aboriginal peoples and visible minorities. If you are a person with a disability, assistance with the screening and selection process is available on request.
