Our clients come from a diverse range of industries and include start-ups, small and medium sized businesses and large multi-national corporations who have long-trusted us to deliver high quality, seamless and cost-effective services, both locally and globally. We are looking to add an experienced Patent Agent to join the Canadian team with focus in the areas of patent drafting, filing and prosecution.
Responsibilities
Marks & Clerk believes in looking at an entire business portfolio from an IP perspective and likes to take a collaborative approach with clients. Specific responsibilities are:
- Advise clients regarding appropriate IP protection.
- Prepare and file patent applications.
- Prosecute patent applications through to grant.
- Conduct IP audits and due diligence for investors in intellectual property and businesses
with IP assets. - Arrange validity and infringement reviews and patent watch services.
- Draft arguments to advocate clients’ positions, with reference to case law.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified Canadian Patent Agent with at least two (2) years experience since qualification.
- Recognized degree in electrical or computer engineering, mathematics, physics, or related
disciplines. - Patent drafting, filing and prosecution.
- Demonstrated technical excellence.
- The ability to assume responsibility for client relationships.
- The ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team.
- Highly motivated; proactive with a drive to develop the practice.
- Excellent time and portfolio management skills.
