Build Your Career in Acoustics with One of Canada’s Leading NVA Teams

Stantec’s Noise, Vibration & Acoustics (NVA) team is recognized internationally for delivering high-quality acoustic and vibration solutions across major transit programs, healthcare facilities, transportation corridors, industrial developments, and complex urban infrastructure projects.

Our Ontario NVA team consists of experienced professionals working collaboratively across offices and closely connected with our national and global acoustics network. We combine rigorous technical analysis, field expertise, and regulatory knowledge to support impactful projects that shape communities.

We are currently seeking a Junior Acoustics, Noise and Vibration Specialist to join our growing team.

Your Opportunity

This role offers hands-on exposure to real-world acoustic and vibration projects from day one. You will work directly with senior acoustic specialists and engineers who provide structured mentorship, technical training, and professional development support.

You will gain experience in:

  • Environmental and transportation noise modeling

  • Field noise and vibration monitoring

  • Regulatory compliance assessments

  • Building acoustics and vibration analysis

  • Technical reporting and client communication

This position is designed to support career progression toward increased project responsibility and professional registration (EIT/P.Eng. pathway where applicable).

Your Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  • Conduct field measurements and monitoring of sound and vibration using industry-standard instrumentation.

  • Support environmental, traffic, and transportation noise modeling assignments.

  • Assist with vibration analysis and assessment.

  • Prepare clear, well-structured technical reports.

  • Support senior technical leaders in meeting project objectives, timelines, and quality standards.

Field Experience

  • Participate in on-site monitoring programs and surveys.

  • Assist in data collection, documentation, and preliminary interpretation.

  • Support safe and effective fieldwork practices.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams (internal and external).

  • Participate in team training sessions and ongoing professional development.

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing within the NVA group.

  • Develop regulatory understanding under senior guidance.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Foundational knowledge of acoustical theory and vibration principles.

  • Familiarity with sound and vibration measurement equipment.

  • Exposure to modeling tools such as CADNA/A, STAMSON, TNM, ODEON, EASE, or similar platforms.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD tools.

  • Interest in developing expertise in Ontario and Federal regulatory frameworks.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and motivated to learn.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for fieldwork.

  • Availability for occasional planned field assignments and travel.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline (with coursework in acoustics, noise, or vibration).

  • 0–3 years of relevant experience (previous consulting experience is an asset).

  • Experience in environmental noise, transportation noise, building acoustics, monitoring, and/or vibration is considered an asset.

  • EIT eligibility, P.Eng. pathway, or CET designation is an asset but not required.

Strong recent graduates with demonstrated interest in acoustics, noise and vibration are encouraged to apply.
