Are you an experienced material handler looking for a rewarding contract opportunity in the Kitchener area? Randstad Operational is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Contract Material Handler to join our client's dynamic team in the plastics manufacturing industry. In this role, you will be working directly at our client’s state-of-the-art Kitchener facility, contributing to efficient warehouse operations and production workflows. This is a robust, six-month temporary position offering competitive weekly pay and an excellent afternoon shift schedule from Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm.

As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role within the manufacturing and logistics ecosystem. The primary focus of the Material Handler is to ensure the seamless movement, verification, and control of raw materials and finished goods throughout the plant. Working under the guidance of the Warehouse Supervisor, the successful Material Handler will support both production lines and overall warehouse efficiency. This position requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Must haves:
• Proficient in operating material handling equipment, specifically counterbalance forklifts and stand-up reach trucks.
• Demonstrated competence in basic and intermediate mathematics for precise material weighing and inventory counting.
• Strong computer literacy with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and enterprise systems like JDE or equivalent WMS.
• Excellent organizational skills with an ability to maintain accurate handwritten and digital logs.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively across manufacturing departments.
• High attention to detail for verifying part numbers, lot codes, and material weights against documentation.
• Ability to adapt to flexible hours and commit to overtime requirements when production volumes increase.

Advantages
• Highly competitive hourly rate of pay ranging between $28.95 and $32.92 per hour, paid weekly.
• Stable full-time hours on a desirable afternoon shift (Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm) allowing for a great work-life balance.
• Opportunity to work with a well-established, industry-leading client in a clean and safety-oriented plastics manufacturing plant.
• Gain valuable experience utilizing specialized machinery and warehouse management software (JDE).
• Seamless onboarding process facilitated by Randstad Operational's expert manufacturing and logistics recruiters.
• Dedicated support throughout your assignment from a trusted staffing partner invested in your professional well-being.

Responsibilities
• Pick and stage raw materials from the warehouse and finished goods for production lines and inter-company transfers.
• Pre-weigh and stage partial quantities of raw materials for pre-blends according to strict manufacturing specifications.
• Receive, verify, and log raw materials and finished goods returned from production areas.
• Ensure accuracy of material weights and verify that all lot numbers are correctly labeled before returning items to storage.
• Record all picked and returned materials accurately on the warehouse staging and return log sheets.
• Perform routine cycle counts and participate in scheduled inventories of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
• Receive inbound products against packing slips, generating and affixing proper warehouse tracking labels.
• Complete receiving transactions accurately within the JDE computer system and locate or record materials in their proper storage areas.
• Inspect and repair damaged containers for both finished goods and raw materials, repackaging them properly when necessary.
• Pick finished goods for upcoming customer orders, handle repack requests, bagging, and safely load or unload shipping trailers.
• Provide reliable coverage in the pigment control department during vacation periods, absences, or operational surges.
• Provide administrative and operational support for preparing samples and verifying back weigh-ups as directed.
• Collaborate proactively with other departments to ensure a safe, courteous, and productive plant operation.
• Adhere strictly to all facility health and safety procedures, reporting all incidents or injuries immediately to management.
• Maintain the assigned warehouse and production work areas in a clean, organized, safe, and orderly condition.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience operating counterbalance forklifts and stand-up reach trucks.
• An internal forklift license or external certification valid for both counterbalance and stand-up reach operations is required.
• Proven physical capability to stand for extended periods of 6 to 8 hours per shift.
• Capability to execute repetitive lifting of materials weighing up to 25 kg safely and consistently.
• comfort level with weighing, blending, and processing raw chemical or plastic materials.
• A reliable attendance history and a track record of punctuality in previous industrial roles.
