Job description

Saltworks Technologies is a leading Canadian cleantech company solving two of the world's most pressing industrial challenges: water sustainability and critical minerals supply.

We design and build advanced industrial water treatment and lithium refining systems for some of the world's most recognized companies – in semiconductors, mining, automotive, and more.

Saltworks is a 2025 Fast 50 Company and EY Entrepreneur of the Year award winner.

The role: Saltworks is hiring a Junior Commissioning Engineer/Technologist to support the startup and delivery of advanced clean technology systems.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their engineering career who is eager to grow their skills in a hands-on, dynamic environment.

In this role, you will support the planning and execution of commissioning activities at our facility and at customer sites, working alongside and learning from experienced engineers and technologists.

You will be exposed to the full project lifecycle and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to help bring innovative clean technology systems to life.

This position involves approximately 50% travel to customer sites, with field rotations typically lasting 2-3 weeks.

Some projects may require longer stays or more frequent travel over a 6- to 12-week period, depending on customer needs.

Key Responsibilities: Support factory and on-site commissioning, troubleshooting, and handovers alongside multi-disciplinary teams.

Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and resource coordination for factory and fieldwork.

Support the refinement of commissioning procedures and best practices.

Provide feedback to improve the design of future systems.

Represent Saltworks at customer sites, both locally and internationally.

Qualifications & Experience: A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally to customer sites without restrictions.

An Engineering degree or diploma (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Integrated, or related).

  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, fieldwork, or technical project support.

Knowledge of industrial safety standards and commissioning practices.

Exposure to mechanical or electrical systems, hydro testing, instrumentation, or process control is an asset.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a safety-first mindset.

Why join Saltworks?

At Saltworks, you'll collaborate with talented colleagues to solve complex, real-world problems – designing and delivering innovative water treatment and lithium refining systems for some of the world's most recognized companies.

Every team member contributes meaningfully, from early-stage development through field deployment.

Saltworks is investing intentionally in artificial intelligence for engineering and technical work.

Engineering offers one of the longest runways for AI-driven productivity and automation, and Saltworks aims to be at the forefront of this shift.

We provide the training, computational capacity, and practical tools needed for engineers and technical professionals to apply AI meaningfully in their work. We offer: Competitive compensation package, including medical, dental, vision, RRSP matching, life insurance, AD&D coverage, and an education allowance.

Culture built on safety, innovation, diversity, and continuous learning.

Collaborative, cross-functional team environment where every member contributes to project outcomes.

Regular social activities and company events.

How to apply: If you would like to join the Saltworks team, please submit your resume (cover letters are not required).

While we sincerely appreciate all applications, only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

All applications are considered confidential Kindly, no recruiters.

Salary : Negotiable based on your experience, qualifications, and alignment with comparable roles internally.
