We are seeking a Piping Engineering Intern who is eager to develop technical capability and gain hands-on experience within a multidisciplinary EPCM environment. In this role, you will support piping engineering activities on oil and gas facilities projects, contributing to design, specification development, project execution, and engineering coordination while working alongside experienced engineers and designers.
This is an excellent opportunity to build practical engineering experience and gain exposure to large-scale facilities projects across global project teams.

What You’ll Do
As a Piping Engineering Intern, you will support the delivery of safe, efficient, and code-compliant piping systems. Your role will include:
Piping Design & Engineering Support
• Support piping design, specification development, and installation activities for oil and gas facilities projects
• Assist with the preparation of piping engineering deliverables, including:
o Piping specifications
o Line designation tables
o Material requisitions
o Specialty item specifications
o Isometric and general arrangement drawing reviews
• Support the development of project specifications and technical documentation
• Assist with identifying stress engineering requirements related to piping system design
Coordination & Team Collaboration
• Work closely with piping engineers, designers, drafters, and multidisciplinary project teams
• Coordinate with global workshare teams across Canada, Australia, USA, and India
• Assist in resolving interdisciplinary design issues and project interfaces
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and engineering discussions
• Support knowledge transfer activities, including assisting future internship students where appropriate
Project Execution & Delivery
• Support the delivery of piping engineering deliverables in accordance with scope, schedule, and quality expectations
• Contribute to project documentation including Design Basis Memorandums (DBMs), studies, execution plans, and scopes of work
• Participate in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews to identify opportunities for design optimization
• Support review and coordination of client requirements, project specifications, and technical expectations
• Assist with maintaining project documentation and engineering records
Construction & Field Support
• Support responses to RFIs and technical queries related to piping systems
• Assist with the review of installation requirements and constructability considerations
• Participate in site visits or field activities as required
• Help ensure designs remain practical, safe, and aligned with project objectives
Safety, Quality & Compliance
• Follow established engineering quality processes, procedures, and standards
• Support compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
• Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and environmental programs
• Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and the development of engineering standards and procedures
About You
You are an enthusiastic engineering student who enjoys problem-solving, technical learning, and working within collaborative project teams. You bring:
• Enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program (required)
• Successful completion of third-year Mechanical Engineering studies
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Interest in the oil and gas industry and EPCM project execution
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
Technical Foundation
• Basic understanding of piping systems and facility design concepts
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation
• Awareness of piping materials and equipment is considered an asset
• Exposure to materials requisitions and procurement processes is considered an asset
• Awareness of metallurgy and materials selection for corrosive or elevated-temperature service is considered an asset
• Interest in industry codes, standards, and engineering best practices
Software Proficiency
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other MS Office applications
• Familiarity with engineering software and document management systems is considered an asset
• Exposure to 3D design and model review tools is considered an asset
