Infrastructure engineer Jobs in Calgary, AB

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking an Infrastructure Solution Architect for a 12 month contract role with a client of ours located in Calgary.

Responsibilities:

• Design and govern enterprise Kubernetes and container platform architecture, including cluster design, networking, security, observability, and capacity planning.
• Develop scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure architectures that align with business, security, and compliance requirements.
• Lead the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) best practices.
• Define and manage environment lifecycle strategies (Development, Test, and Production) to ensure stability, consistency, and release readiness.
• Lead infrastructure and network capacity planning by forecasting demand, optimizing resource utilization, and ensuring high availability and performance.
• Provide end-to-end infrastructure architecture leadership across projects, ensuring technical designs meet functional and non-functional requirements while managing risks and dependencies.
• Establish standards for network architecture, secure connectivity, traffic optimization, load balancing, and hybrid cloud networking.
• Review and validate vendor architecture, technical designs, and deliverables to ensure compliance with organizational standards, security requirements, and quality expectations.
• Serve as the technical authority for infrastructure architecture, providing design reviews, technical guidance, risk escalation, and go-live readiness assessments.
• Mentor engineering teams and collaborate closely with delivery, operations, and security teams to promote architectural best practices and successful solution delivery.

Requirements:

• Minimum 8+ years’ experience in infrastructure, platform, or cloud engineering
• 5+ years’ experience designing and operating Kubernetes / container platforms in production
• 5+ years’ experience of Iterative and Agile methodologies, practices and related standards.
• Proven experience leading technical workstreams.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and CI/CD tooling (e.g., Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD).
• Experience integrating and operating vendor provided solutions (SaaS, COTS)
• Experience with Azure cloud and Linux administration
• Demonstrated experience working in an IT environment working directly with business leaders and 3rd party solution providers.
• Utilities industry background is an asset.
• Previous technical leadership is an asset.
