Job description

Be the trusted partner who ensures excellence. As Sentient HR’s RECE Specialist, you’ll connect directly with our supply staff and childcare centre partners, ensuring every shift is filled with the right educator — and that our educators are supported, engaged, and recognized for the incredible work they do. You’ll blend operational precision with human connection, visiting centres to observe, coach, and strengthen performance while leading initiatives like our Apprenticeship Program and staff recognition efforts.

At Sentient HR, we believe quality is built on relationships. You’ll be the primary contact for over 600 supply staff, driving engagement, retention, and continuous improvement.

About Sentient HR

Sentient HR Services Empowers Educators by connecting passionate childcare professionals with rewarding opportunities. We specialize in supply staffing, temporary placements, and full-time hires for childcare centres and private schools. Serving over 500 centres and schools across the GTHA, we are trusted partners to both clients and educators.

We invest in professional development, celebrate wins, and operate with a culture where your contributions are noticed and valued.

The Role

The RECE Specialist ensures every Sentient educator is set up for success, from onboarding and shift matching to professional development and recognition. You’ll build close relationships with staff, provide in-person feedback and coaching, and oversee initiatives that keep quality and engagement at the highest level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the consistent point of contact for over 300 supply staff.
  • Match educators to shifts based on strengths, availability, and career goals.
  • Lead the Quality Assurance Program by visiting centres, observing performance, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Coach staff when issues arise in-centre.
  • Oversee the Apprenticeship Program, supporting staff in obtaining their RECE designation.
  • Administer the Sentient PERKS recognition program and plan incentive bonuses.
  • Research industry trends and maintain relationships with childcare associations.
  • Serve as emergency supply staff if required.
  • Plan and deliver at least five professional development courses per year.
  • Write monthly articles for the staff newsletter and lead the annual Staff Appreciation Event.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma from an accredited institution (or equivalent).
  • Current registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (in good standing).
  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C certification.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check.
  • Up-to-date immunization record (as per Ministry requirements).
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with children aged 18 months–6 years (school-age experience an asset).
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Act and Toronto’s Assessment for Quality Improvement.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing needs.

Why Join Us

  • Competitive salary + benefits.
  • Professional development opportunities and industry networking.
  • A collaborative, values-driven team.
  • A role where your expertise directly improves the quality of childcare experiences across Ontario.

Our Hiring Process

We believe great hiring experiences start with transparency:

  • Pre-Screen Interview – 30 minutes via Zoom with our Director of Business Development.

  • First Interview (TopGrading) – In-person at our Markham office; deep dive into your career history and values.

  • Second Interview – In-person; scenario-based discussion to assess skills and fit.

  • References – Speaking with your selected professional references.

  • Offer – Formal offer followed by onboarding.

Sentient HR Services Inc. is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We provide accommodations in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) throughout the recruitment process.
