JOB TITLE: Human Resources Intern
FAMILY: Human Resources
WAGE: $23.85 per hour (38.25 hours per week)
DURATION: 6 months, with possibility of extension.
II. ROLE
The Human Resources Intern supports day-to-day HR services for the Delta, BC site under the direction of the HR team. The role provides hands-on support across recruitment, onboarding, employee records, reporting and employee programs while protecting confidential information and delivering accurate, responsive service.
III. MISSIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HR OPERATIONS AND EMPLOYEE LIFECYCLE
- Maintain accurate employee and candidate records, personnel files, HR systems and tracking tools in accordance with confidentiality and retention requirements.
- Prepare onboarding and offboarding materials and coordinate orientations, forms, access requests and required training activities.
- Assist with employee letters, forms, organizational charts, policy updates and HR communications using approved templates.
RECRUITMENT, LEARNING AND EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE
- Coordinate job postings, candidate communications, interview schedules, references and recruitment records.
- Support co-op and community recruitment, training logistics, attendance tracking and learning records.
- Assist with engagement, recognition and wellness activities, employee surveys, HR metrics and process-improvement projects.
IV. SAFETY, COMPLIANCE & GOVERNANCE
- Follow site safety and security procedures, report hazards or incidents through the appropriate channels and complete required training.
- Protect employee and candidate personal information and maintain records in accordance with company policies and applicable requirements.
- Support policy acknowledgements, training records, audit requests and ISO or quality-system document control as assigned.
V. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
- Accuracy, completeness and timeliness of HR records, documents and assigned deliverables.
- On-time coordination of recruitment, onboarding, offboarding and training activities.
- Professional and responsive communication with candidates, employees and internal stakeholders.
- Consistent compliance with confidentiality, safety, document-control and escalation requirements.
VI. AUTHORITY
- Access HR systems and confidential records required for assigned work, within granted permissions.
- Communicate routine HR information and prepare approved documents using established templates and procedures.
- Schedule and coordinate interviews, orientations, training sessions and employee activities with stakeholders.
- Recommend administrative process improvements and escalate matters outside approved procedures or delegated scope.
VII. DECISION MAKING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prioritize assigned tasks and deadlines in consultation with the supervisor.
- Resolve routine administrative questions using established procedures and escalate sensitive, exceptional or employee-relations matters.
- Select appropriate approved templates and tracking tools and flag missing, inconsistent or potentially inaccurate data.
VIII. REQUIREMENTS
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field and eligible to complete a co-op work term or new graduates seeking internship.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; exposure to an HRIS, applicant tracking system or data reporting is an asset.
- Strong organization, accuracy, follow-through, written and verbal communication and service orientation.
- Sound judgement and discretion with confidential information; available for a full-time co-op term or 6 months internship and able to work primarily on site in Delta, BC.
- Successful completion of the mandatory Controlled Goods Program (CGP) security assessment and clearance process is a condition of employment.
