Drives the overall software development lifecycle including working across functional teams to transform requirements into features, managing development teams and processes, and conducting software testing and maintenance. Specific project areas of focus includes translating user requirements into technical specifications, writing code and managing the preparation of design specifications. Supports system design, provides advice on security requirements and debugs business systems and service applications. Applies deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures and programming languages to develop high quality technology applications and services - including tools, standards, and relevant software platforms based on business requirements.

Translates user needs into technical specifications by understanding, conceptualizing, and facilitating technical requirements from user.​

Analyzes, develops, tests, and implements new software programs, and documentation of entire software development life cycle execution.

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting and fault rectification of system and core software components​.

Ensures that code / configurations adhere to the security, logging, error handling, and performance standards and non-functional requirements.​

Evaluates new technologies for fit with the program / system / eco-system and the associated upstream and downstream impacts on process, data, and risk.

Follows release management processes and standards, and applies version controls. ​

Assists in interpreting and documentation of client requirements.​

Focus is primarily on business / group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.

Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.

Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

Qualifications :

Experience with JUnit is preferred. Knowledge of Selenium Testing Automation is a nice-to-have.

Cloud computing.

Knowledge of AWS Cloud Components is preferred. AWS Associate / Professional level certifications is a nice-to-have.

Microservices.

Experience with setting up, development and packaging of Spring Boot APIs in Java, dependency management using Maven or Gradle.

Knowledge of Python programming language is a nice-to-have.

Technology Business Requirements Definition, Analysis and Mapping.

Ability to draw UMLs, SA Design Diagrams, ERDs and compile them into comprehensive design documents. Ability to simplify and optimize design of web components under enterprise constraints, conceive technical solutions as per business requirements and explain application architecture to stakeholders in simple terms.

Willingness and inquisitiveness to learn about new technologies and participate in technology improvement initiatives.

Resourcefulness in coming up with solutions and alternatives to business problems, with minimal guidance.

Ability to master legacy / proprietary software language and components used in enterprise applications and work on enhancing these applications.

Intermediate level of proficiency :

Programming.

4+ years' experience with Java programming is required, along with ability to write Oracle SQL / PostgreSQL database queries.

Understanding of frontend development – HTML / CSS / JavaScript along with TypeScript for debugging / troubleshooting Angular UI components. Knowledge of React Components is a nice-to-have.

Knowledge of coding best practices and data structures / algorithms to optimize applications for performance.

Experience with OpenText Content Server is preferred. Knowledge of OScript language is a nice-to-have.

Applications Integration.

Experience working with Linux based systems and basic log monitoring / troubleshooting. Knowledge of connectivity testing and Swagger implementation for APIs. API testing using SoapUI, Insomnia or Postman.

Experience with working on Apache Tomcat for deployment, monitoring and troubleshooting APIs and webservices.

Test Driven Development.

Unit Testing with JUnit, load testing APIs with Apache JMeter.

System Development Lifecycle.

Understanding of modern CI / CD tools and methodologies using DevOps tools like Azure, Ansible, GitHub Actions.

Version Control and Git-based code management.

Ability to effectively communicate and interoperate with infrastructure, application and networking teams to ensure high availability and reliable application performance.

Troubleshooting.

System and Technology Integration.

Verbal & written communication skills.

Fluent written / verbal communication in English is a must-have.

Collaboration & team skills.

Knowledge of Atlassian collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence). Basic understanding of Service Now.

Analytical and problem solving skills.

Data driven decision making.

Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Technical proficiency gained through education and / or business experience.

Salary :

60,000.00 - $111,700.00

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
