Our client in Toronto, ON is actively looking for a Software Developer to join their team.
Position Description: ) Build System Connectivity & Data Collection
  • Design and implement connectors to pull key datasets from multiple systems (APIs, databases or file drops).
  • Normalize incoming data into a consistent model for comparisons.
  • Implement robust retry and error-handling for integrations.
) Comparison Engine / Rules & Exception Detection
  • Build a configurable rules engine to compare records/aggregates across systems: Field-to-field comparisons (, store ID, business date, sales totals) Cross-system completeness checks (expected records present) Tolerance-based thresholds (, variance > X) Time-window checks (, "last updated” SLA)
  • Produce clear "diff” outputs: what differs, by how much, and suggested root-cause hints (, mapping issues, late loads).
) Web Platform (UI + APIs)
  • Build a web UI that supports: Overview health dashboard Discrepancy explorer (filters by system/store/date/type/severity) Issue detail pages with traceability (source payload snapshot / correlation IDs) Admin configuration for rules, thresholds, alert recipients (role-based)
  • Build backend APIs to serve the UI and support automation.
) Alerting, Observability, and Operations
  • Implement alert routing (email/Teams) with deduplication, escalation
  • Add monitoring: logs, metrics, traces, dashboards, and runbooks for on-call support.
  • Create audit trails for rule changes and alert acknowledgements.
) Security & Governance
  • Implement authentication/authorization (SSO preferred), secrets management, and least-privilege access.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • + years building production software in .NET (C) / Java/ Python Web UI experience Strong API integration experience (REST/JSON; auth patterns such as OAuth where applicable) Solid SQL skills and data modeling (relational + optionally a document store) Experience designing reliable background jobs/workers (schedulers, queues, retries, DLQs) Automated testing (unit + integration) Practical experience with observability (structured logging, metrics, tracing)
