As a GIS Developer, you will be responsible for the development of new, and the maintenance of existing, spatial data processes that lie at the heart of our organization, as well as oversight of our GIS infrastructure. This position will support both geospatial data delivery to clients and first-party applications. You will be joining Geologic’s Data Services team whose remit is to provide our clients with the highest quality energy data in the industry.
Reporting to the Data Services Manager, this role is pivotal in advancing Geologic’s geospatial data offerings. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter, knowledgeable about spatial data, ETL processes and GIS technologies.
How will you spend your day?
- Assist in the development of critical projects, both in terms of operational and product roadmap requirements
- Work with new and existing spatial data to analyze, model and explain the meaning of data to other members and departments
- Analyze and identify source data to develop new layers
- Design, validate and implement geospatial layers, including metadata
- Create ETL processes to ingest and process data to Oracle, Postgres and SQL Server repositories
- Manage both ArcGIS and GeoServer webserver environments
- Install, configure, and monitor GIS data loads and scheduled jobs
- Create, modify, document, and maintain custom scripts and routines for GIS data processes
- Troubleshoot operational issues both in spatial and non-spatial data processes
- Collaborate across technical and business teams to discover and deliver customer-centric solutions
Ready to apply? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Post-secondary education in GIS and/or Computer Science
- 10+ years of experience in geospatial ETL, ArcGIS Server and data design
- Expertise in the following tools and technologies:FME Form/DesktopArcPy (2.7.x / 3.3.x)ArcGIS Pro and ArcMapArcGIS Server / Map ServicesExperience in loading spatial layers to Oracle SDE and other data repositoriesExperience working with data from Oracle, SQL Server and PostgreSQLStrong background in development of monitoring and ETL validation scriptsA solid understanding of geospatial coordinate systems, map projections, and transformationsSuperior problem-solving and analytical skillsExperience of the full software development lifecycleThe ability to work under pressure to resolve real-time issues with systems in production

- GeoServerCanadian Oil and Gas dataEsri Server Object Extension development. (both Arcmap Runtime and ArcGIS Pro Enterprise SDK)C# and NET framework
