As a Payroll Specialist, you will play a critical role in driving payroll excellence across a multi-entity environment. You’ll oversee end-to-end payroll operations, ensure full compliance with legislation, and partner closely with the Director of Payroll Operations. This is more than a processing role, you will mentor others, elevate processes, and help shape a high-performing payroll function.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Own and deliver accurate, end-to-end payroll processing including wages, deductions, taxes, and journal entriesEnsure full compliance with federal and provincial payroll legislation, including CRA, WCB, WSIB, and EHT filingsMaintain accurate and well-organized payroll records, reporting, and documentationResolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries with confidence, care, and a strong service mindsetDeliver exceptional service to business unit leaders and employees, ensuring responsive and professional supportPartner cross-functionally with HR and Finance to drive seamless payroll operationsPrepare and submit payroll filings and reports with a high level of accuracy and timelinessSupport payroll audits and continuously strengthen compliance practicesAct as the subject matter expert and escalation point for complex payroll mattersSupport and collaboration on the development of payroll team membersIdentify and implement opportunities to streamline, automate, and elevate payroll processes Support additional payroll-related responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the reporting manager.
What You Bring to the Team:
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designationPLP designation is an asset10+ years of payroll accounting experience, demonstrating strong ownership, independence, and a highly self-driven approachCollaborative team player with a proactive and solutions-oriented mindsetDeep knowledge of Canadian payroll legislationHands-on experience with ADP or similar payroll systemsIntermediate to Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and manage complex dataExceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and discretionStrong communication skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across the organization
The salary for this position falls within a defined range and will be determined based on several factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and the needs of the organization.
