You combine strong academic foundations with practical advice, sound business judgment while delivering actionable guidance that enables teams to move forward with confidence.

Please include a cover letter with your resume (in one file) describing how you would be a great fit at Photonic and what attributes you could bring to our growing team.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

  • Advise product, design, and engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian and international laws, including technology, licensing, export, and IP regulations
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks proactively
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements related to product development, manufacturing, and distribution
  • Collaborate on intellectual property strategy and enforcement
  • Develop scalable processes, policies, and templates to streamline legal support
  • Partner cross-functionally on privacy, security, compliance, and IP matters
  • Provide practical, risk-balanced legal guidance to senior leaders
  • Stay informed on product developments and cultivate creative legal solutions

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

  • JD or LLB, and membership in a Canadian provincial bar, with eligibility to practice in British Columbia.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal role
  • Expertise in technology product development and regulatory compliance
  • Strong contract negotiation and drafting skills
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and deliver actionable advice
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgment and adaptability in fast-paced environments
  • Technically savvy and enthusiastic about innovation
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills
  • A collaborative mindset and a positive sense of humor

WHY YOU SHOULD WORK WITH US

  • Work closely with some of the brightest innovators in quantum technologies to drive breakthroughs that redefine computing
  • Enjoy a fast-paced and fun environment where you can try new things while solving innovative challenges every day
  • Inclusive company culture that values collaboration
  • Regular social events and fun activities keep our global team connected
  • Competitive compensation package including base salary, stock options, and relocation assistance for global talent
  • Comprehensive benefits including extended health, dental, life, long term disability, an employee assistance program, parental leave top-ups, and a flexible spending account
