Job description

Bunge and Viterra have now combined to become one company. Our ~37,000 employees – the driving force behind our success – are dedicated to one purpose: connecting farmers to consumers to deliver essential food, feed and fuel to the world. As a newly combined company, we are guided by our shared values in all that we do:
• We are one team.
• We lead the way.
• We do what’s right.
We are passionate, bold and driven. Together, we lead the way to deliver results for our customers, each other and the world.
While we work to integrate our job opportunities, candidates are encouraged to explore positions posted on behalf of both Bunge and Viterra.

A Day in the Life:

The Manager, Automation Development and Support is responsible for leading the development, installation, performance, and long‑term technology roadmap of automation process control systems across the region. This role oversees system architecture, software applications supporting facility control, day‑to‑day support of automation systems, and the translation of operational needs into scalable, efficient solutions. By promoting innovation and driving cost reductions through improved system functionality, this role plays a critical part in enhancing operational reliability, safety, and productivity. The position manages a team of five employees and oversees the work of nine contractors.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and approve the design, development, testing, and implementation of PLC and HMI applications supporting facility-wide control systems.
  • Manage day‑to‑day support and continuous improvement of automation and electrical control systems, ensuring reliability, standardization, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure governance, compliance, and risk management through audits, coding standards, functional requirements, and safety-related controls.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership, including system architecture planning, budget participation, performance monitoring, and coordination across multiple projects.
  • Lead and develop the automation team, including hiring, performance management, training, coaching, and fostering a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to use knowledge of the company’s business and strategy to develop innovative solutions.
  • Strength in building partnerships, influencing stakeholders, developing talent, and coaching others for growth.
  • Strong results orientation with the ability to prioritize, organize, and prepare teams for change.
  • Proven ability to lead effectively in a team‑based environment.
  • Strong understanding of process control systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and detail‑oriented thinking.
  • Strong oral, written, and listening communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and influence others when needed.
  • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical, or Instrumentation.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience with industrial controls in a customer‑facing environment.

What We Offer:

  • Motivated learning alongside high-performing colleagues
  • A competitive salary and comprehensive benefits
  • Short-Term Incentive Plan offering additional earning potential in the form of an annual bonus
  • Future security through a Retirement Savings Plan
