Description & Requirements

who we are

lululemon is an innovative performance apparel company for yoga, running, training, and other athletic pursuits. Setting the bar in technical fabrics and functional design, we create transformational products and experiences that support people in moving, growing, connecting, and being well. We owe our success to our innovative product, emphasis on stores, commitment to our people, and the incredible connections we make in every community we're in. As a company, we focus on creating positive change to build a healthier, thriving future. In particular, that includes creating an equitable, inclusive and growth-focused environment for our people.

about this team

lululemon Engineering is dedicated to building secure, reliable, and performant products for our guests and partners. We embrace the philosophies of Agile, DevOps, and SRE to accelerate our development process and provide the most enjoyable, inclusive, and supportive work environment possible. We believe our journey is more fun when it is collaborative, as we focus on the future instead of the past. As an Engineer, you will work as part of a global team supported by our business and architecture partners to help us collaboratively develop and deliver industry leading technology solutions that drive lululemon's business goals.

core responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer I with deep expertise in scripting and Content Management Systems, preferably Contentful to help shape and evolve the backbone of our content storage and delivery platform. In this role, you'll design scalable systems, write well‑architected services, and influence the technical direction of our CMS ecosystem that powers billions of requests.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor engineers, and drive initiatives that keep our systems healthy, resilient, and future‑proof.

  • Design, build, and enhance our content storage infrastructure, a foundational component supporting billions of requests daily.
  • Work hands-on with AWS services using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices.
  • Partner closely with teams across the content storage, content delivery, and CMS platform domains.
  • Experience building and deploying custom apps within Contentful, including App Framework development, hosted extensions, workflows, functions, webhooks, and broader platform integrations.
  • Develop and maintain services built in Typescript.
  • Lead improvements in our CMS workflows, automation, and integrations, especially around Contentful.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks by anticipating potential bottlenecks and failure points.
  • Enhance reliability, performance, and observability across systems.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
  • Mentor teammates, share knowledge, and help cultivate a culture of safe experimentation and continuous improvement.

qualifications
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software development or systems engineering, with strong scripting skills.
  • Proven experience working with CMS platforms, Contentful experience is highly preferred.
  • Deep hands-on experience with core AWS services: DynamoDB, S3, Lambda, ElastiCache, SNS/SQS.
  • Expertise with Terraform and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of CDN architecture and cache invalidation strategies, including TTL design, cache-busting, and purge mechanisms for high-availability distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language: Typescript or JavaScript.
  • Familiarity with observability stacks and tools like Splunk, Cloudwatch and DataDog.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a track record of proposing practical, scalable solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and manage competing priorities.

must haves
  • Acknowledge the presence of choice in every moment and take personal responsibility for your life.
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results.
  • Communicate with honesty and kindness and create the space for others to do the same.
  • Lead with courage, knowing the possibility of greatness is bigger than the fear of failure.
  • Foster connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships.
  • Integrate fun and joy as a way of being and working, aka doesn't take yourself too seriously.
