We are looking for a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer ready to join our growing Canadian Operations within our Engineering Design Organization supporting Transportation projects. The role can be based in any of our offices in Mississauga, Toronto, Markham or Whitby. The Bridge Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large-scale projects across the transportation spectrum of highways, roads, and bridges. Our team provides full-service bridge engineering from project planning, conceptual design, lifecycle cost analysis, load evaluation, inspections, fatigue, preliminary design, detailed design, construction administration / inspection, and asset management support.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Solutions Design : Participation in, and completion of multi-disciplinary transportation structure projects, rail bridges and structures, and complex design. Produce conceptual design, detailed design, technical specifications, and provide cost and schedule estimates.
• Engineering Standards Specification : Work within various procurement models and roles.
• Collaboration : Work in small and large teams; lead integration with other engineering disciplines to produce high-quality project deliverables.
• Knowledge Management : Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions to capture and share knowledge on project outcomes and innovative practices.
• Technical Developments Recommendation : Prepare reports and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public.
• Professional Supervision : Provide technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff.
• Collaboration (Client-facing and internal) : Work with Business Group Leaders, Project Managers, and Project Directors focusing on structural design for transit infrastructure; collaborate with other disciplines to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables; maintain contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies, and clients; ensure design solutions meet program and budget constraints.
• Feasibility Studies : Conduct complex feasibility studies and document findings to support cost-benefit analyses for changes to processes or structures.
• Project Management : Exposure to project planning, development, and monitoring of schedules and budgets.
• Needs Assessment : Identify emerging issues, stakeholders, and related challenges;
• Improvement / Innovation : Identify and implement improvements in existing practices while developing and delivering projects within the organization’s change management program.
