Are we right for you...

Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment? Are you the type of person who finds satisfaction in balancing numbers, resolving discrepancies, processing large volumes of transactions, and ensuring every detail is accounted for?

Perhaps you're someone who enjoys working with technology, building positive customer relationships, and taking ownership of your work from start to finish. You don't shy away from picking up the phone when an account needs attention, and you're motivated by solving problems and helping customers find solutions.

If that sounds like you, this could be the next step in your career.

Please note that this is a 6-month term opportunity.

In this role you will be asked to...

Play a critical role in BC Transit’s financial operations by ensuring revenue and accounts receivable activities are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. You will manage a high volume of invoices, cash applications, reconciliations, deposits, assist in investigating and resolving customer account discrepancies, supporting collection activities and revenue transactions, while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

You will be entrusted with safeguarding the accuracy of financial records, investigating and resolving discrepancies, maintaining customer records, and monitoring incoming payments across multiple revenue streams. This includes corporate billings, local government billings, fare revenue, grant transactions, and other revenue sources.

You'll develop strong relationships with both internal and external customers, providing responsive service and ensuring questions, concerns, and customer account issues are addressed professionally and promptly. In this role, you will support collection activities by communicating with customers, helping resolve outstanding account matters, providing excellent customer service, and contributing to the timely collection of receivables.

Technology is a significant part of your day. You'll work within enterprise systems, Microsoft Office applications, and financial technology tools, while continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and strengthen financial controls.

In this role you will not be asked to...

Be a strategic accountant, financial analyst, or corporate finance advisor. This role is focused on the day-to-day administration of revenue and accounts receivable operations, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, customer accounts are maintained, and financial records remain complete and reliable.

What you might love about this role...

  • The pace: If you enjoy staying busy and processing a high volume of work, you'll find plenty of opportunities to stay engaged every day.
  • The details matter: Your attention to detail will have a direct impact on the accuracy and integrity of BC Transit’s financial records.
  • Customer connections: You'll build positive relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders while helping resolve issues and answer questions.
  • Technology-focused environment: You'll work with modern financial systems and tools while helping improve processes and efficiencies.
  • Autonomy and ownership: You'll independently manage priorities and meet important daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Variety: Every day involves a mix of customer service, reconciliations, problem-solving, collections, invoicing, and process improvement initiatives.

What to consider before applying...

  • High transaction volume: This isn't a role where work arrives slowly or sporadically. There are deadlines, priorities, and a steady flow of transactions that require consistent attention.
  • Detail-oriented work: Small errors can have significant financial impacts, so precision and accuracy are essential every day.
  • Structured processes: Much of the work is governed by accounting standards, policies, procedures, tax rules, contracts, and customer requirements.

What you'll bring to the table...

Some qualities you possess to be successful in this role:

  • Attention to detail - You take pride in getting the numbers right and catching discrepancies before they become issues.
  • Organization and prioritization - You can effectively manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Customer relationship focus - You build trust through professional, responsive, and solution-oriented service.
  • Comfort with technology - You enjoy learning systems, working with ERPs, and leveraging technology to improve efficiency.
  • Problem-solving ability - You investigate issues thoroughly and find practical solutions.
  • Communication skills - You communicate clearly and confidently, whether by email, in person, or over the phone.
  • Financial administration experience - You understand accounts receivable processes, revenue administration, reconciliations, and general accounting principles and practices.

To learn more about this role, we encourage you to review the Revenue and Accounts Receivable Administrator job description, which outlines the full accountabilities and qualifications.

What we'll bring to the table...

  • Comprehensive medical and dental benefits to support you and your family, regardless of what life throws at you
  • Membership in BC’s Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP). Nationally recognized for its strong investment and governance practices, PSPP is a “defined benefit” plan
  • Access to fitness and lifestyle centers to help you take care of your physical fitness and healthVarious programs that support employees such as an Employee Assistance Program and health and wellness initiatives and events aimed at fostering your mental health
  • A complimentary employee bus pass (plus taxable dependent passes)
  • A corporate learning and development program to help you in continuous career growth
  • An employee recognition program where we all recognize each other's successes (not just your Leaders!)
  • A social club that gives you access to events throughout Victoria

What next steps could look like...

  • Interviews will take place the week of August 17th, 2026.
  • There may be an assignment/presentation as part of the interview process.
  • The position requires the completion of a Criminal Record Check or Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • An eligibility list may be established for future full time regular and full time temporary vacancies
