Unit Summary

Customer Support Services provides a variety of diverse services to clients in both the clinical and non-clinical areas of Hamilton Health Sciences as well external clients. The program was designed to serve an integrator function among support services. We are committed to providing the highest quality service, within existing resources, to our clients for the benefit of our patients and community. Services provided include Portering, Linen, Clinical and Core Housekeeping, Room Booking,, Service Response Centre and Waste.

Position Summary

The environmental aide is responsible for providing daily cleans, discharge cleans, linen and waste collection. EA's are responsible for working in conjunction with clinical partners to ensure patient spaces are cleaned on a daily basis as well making sure discharge cleans are done in a timely manner.

days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Qualifications

1. Minimum Grade 12 education
2. Previous experience in a hospital or health care setting preferred
3. Demonstrates ability to accept assignments, delegation, requests and follow instructions
4. Ability to communicate effectively with other members of the health care team, both verbal and written
5. Ability to use commercial cleaning equipment and to work with cleaning agents
6. Ability to work on an active nursing floor, dealing with isolation procedures
7. Good physical condition. Ability to stand for long periods, repetitive reaching, bending, climbing step ladder, pushing and lifting using good body mechanics
8. Ability to demonstrate attributes that contributes to a respectful caring environment
9. Ability to set priorities and organize work in response to department needs
10. Ability to train for laundry and janitorial pooling as required
