We, at Northfield Metal Products, a Division of Leggett & Platt, are searching for a Quality Control Inspector within our Quality Control Department to help support our Work Furniture business. As a Quality Control Inspector, you will be contributing to our Furniture Components business. We design, manufacture, and distribute a wide range of components and finished products that enhance comfort, motion, and style in the work and home furniture industry. From surface-critical bent tube assemblies and molded plywood components to chair mechanisms, bases, arms, seats, and backs, our Furniture Components business brings diverse world-class manufacturing capabilities together in the production and assembly of high-quality products. As a Quality Control Inspector you will have the opportunity to make regular and special quality checks on products and processes. Examine parts of products for flaws or defects, checking dimensions or other product characteristics against product specifications. You are required to record data for statistics and prepare reports of findings on incoming material and manufactured goods. The team you will be working with has a long tenure and values collaboration.
So, what will you be doing as a Quality Control Inspector?
- Measure using height gauge, caliper, micrometer, other measuring tools
- Problem solve and search for the root cause of a problem to aide in corrective actions
- Generate defect reports for non-conforming product (internal and supplier)
- Examine parts of products for flaws or defects by checking dimensions or other product characteristics against product specifications
- Strong commitment to continual improvement
- Other duties as assigned
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Experience with first article, in-process and final inspections
- Must be able to foster strong and collaborative relationships with management, peers, and production team members
- Three or more years of experience in a manufacturing setting preferred
- Uphold workplace safety and housekeeping standards, adhering to health, safety and operational procedures
