Job description

Are you a dedicated and detail-oriented professional looking to advance your career in business administration and international trade? We are currently seeking a highly skilled Customs Specialist to join our client's dynamic team. In the rapidly evolving landscape of global logistics, the role of a Customs Specialist is more critical than ever. This position offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the intricacies of cross-border trade, ensuring that goods move seamlessly while adhering to all regulatory frameworks. As a Customs Specialist, you will be at the forefront of the supply chain, acting as a pivotal link between businesses and regulatory bodies. The Customs Specialist's primary purpose is to release, comply with PGA, and rate/classify all modes of transit shipments according to CBSA regulations. You will support release/rating departments and supervisors and provide assistance to the compliance team as needed.

Working in business administration within the customs sector requires a deep understanding of various legal and regulatory requirements. The successful Customs Specialist will be responsible for navigating the complex web of trade compliance, minimizing risks, and maximizing efficiency for the organization. Your expertise in business administration will be put to the test as you manage high volumes of data, ensure the accuracy of documentation, and maintain meticulous records of all customs transactions. This role is not just about processing paperwork; it is about strategic business administration, where your analytical skills and attention to detail will directly impact the company's bottom line and operational success.

In this permanent, full-time role, you will be working out the Windsor location, enjoying a flexible hybrid schedule that includes 3 to 4 days in the office and 1 to 2 days working from home. The shift is designed for those who prefer later hours, running from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (midnight) EST. This scheduling flexibility is a fantastic advantage for professionals seeking a non-traditional workday while still engaging in a fast-paced, professional office environment that is not subject to noise or significant hazards. Some stress related to hard deadlines and multiple and/or conflicting tasks is to be expected, making your ability to prioritize and remain calm under pressure essential.

A successful Customs Specialist in this business administration capacity must be highly proficient in utilizing technology and general office equipment. You will regularly use computers, printers, scanners, photocopiers, and telephones to complete your tasks. Furthermore, you will interact with a variety of critical stakeholders, including the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), various vendors, subcontractors, suppliers, and Other Government Departments such as CFIA, NRCan, Transport Canada, Environment Canada, and Health Canada. Your ability to foster strong relationships and communicate effectively with all department employees and clients will be paramount to your success.

Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills in English are strictly required to effectively interact with stakeholders and ensure compliance with complex regulations. While bilingualism (English and French) is often an asset in Canadian business administration roles, strong English proficiency is the primary language requirement for this specific location and shift.

As a leading professional in this field, your daily activities will directly support the broader goals of the business administration function, ensuring that all import and export activities are executed flawlessly. You will be a cornerstone of the compliance team, relying on your extensive knowledge to guide decisions and provide expert advice. We are looking for someone who is not only a technical expert but also a proactive problem-solver who can anticipate challenges and implement effective solutions before they escalate.

Find the right job, love what you do, and develop your career. With access to a wide range of roles with top employers, a global community of professional peers, and specialized training and support, we’ll be your guiding partner and help you build a rewarding career
