Project Director

MPA has been retained by one of Canada’s leading construction firms to recruit a Project Director in Nova Scotia. As a Project Director working in the Building and Operations team you will be the driving force in spearheading their ambitious initiatives in meeting and exceeding project goals, execution, and their workforce management.
Managing large-scale building and infrastructure projects ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion you will collaborate with cross functional teams, architects, engineers, contractors and clients to ensure seamless execution of all projects.
What You Will Do
- Proactively grow and maintain strong relationships with team members, trade partners, consultants and clients to achieve the project goals and vision.
- Support your project management teams to develop and drive the construction schedule ensuring that completion dates and milestones are met and or exceeded.
- Put your problem-solving skills to work and recommend innovative methods that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity.
- Use your proactive approach to ensure compliance with our first-class Quality Program.
- Utilize your experience in trade partner selection and coordination of their activities.
- Apply your financial management experience to plan, manage and respect project budgets, costs and associated purchasing.
- Be both a mentor and role model to your project team, providing coaching and guidance to help them advance in their careers.
- Act as the subject matter expert in risk management, ensuring any associated project risk is minimized.
- Take pride in compiling and completing companywide project reports for executive teams and client groups.
- Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection on the project.
- Effectively applying the requirements of the project specific safety standards to promote HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project.
This role could be for you if you have
- 8-10+ years of experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- A University degree / diploma in Engineering or related field.
- A strong business acumen and knowledge of project management methodologies, financial management, Canadian building codes and associated legislations.
- Experience in the construction industry with a strong knowledge of project methodologies, financial management, as well as building codes and associated legislations.
- A proven track record of team leadership and a knack for coaching and mentoring others.
- A strong ability to effectively influence others and successfully resolve a variety of client, project and technical issues.
Previous experience with scheduling software.
Additional Assets Include
- Experience working on a variety of large-scale government projects.
- Fluency in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
