Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, we are seeking an Executive Director (ED) with excellent leadership skills who will be accountable for leading all aspects of the long-term care home (LTCH) planning, operations, and performance to deliver the highest quality of care and resident and family experience in the most effective, efficient, integrated, and value for money manner.

The ED leads a passionate and dedicated team by role modelling and engaging staff in Yee Hong’s vision, mission, and values, to contribute to the achievement of the organization’s strategic directions, goals and objectives, and to create a safe, healthy, diverse, equitable and inclusive environment where everyone recognizes the value that they bring to the lives of residents, family members and their colleagues.

The ED works in an integrated manner with other LTC homes, programs / services, and corporate services at Yee Hong to develop, align and execute on common processes, systems, policies, and priorities.

The ED also collaborates with external parties to engage the broader community, funders, partners, government officials and others to improve health service integration, population health and Yee Hong’s aims.

Specific to this position, the ED will be instrumental in leading the opening of the new home, working with our construction project and other team members to ensure that the new long-term care home is opened on time and within budget, with all required resources and relationships with key stakeholders in place to achieve the strategic needs of the organization.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business, healthcare / public administration, other health sciences or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience health care and social services, preferably in seniors care and, in a facility, based or community based long term care services or at least 5 years’ experience in another relevant managerial or supervisory capacity.
  • Transformational, visionary, collaborative, and motivational leader demonstrated sound leadership values and competencies in leading self, leading others, and leading within the broader system.
  • Proactively seeks stretch opportunities for learning, development, and growth
  • Track record of leading similar organizations in the innovation, quality improvement, and delivery of excellent care within a safe healthy work environment and in an efficient and financially sound manner.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to impact and influence diverse audiences
  • Flexible and adaptable to change; leads quality improvement, complex change and innovation with within the home and across organizations to achieve common aims guided by a shared purpose.
  • Actively creates a culture of accountability and creates a data-driven and results-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and be agile in addressing multiple competing demands environment, and make sound decisions with strong business acumen
  • Proven experience with building partnerships with internal and external parties including Resident and Family Councils, government officials, professional associations, media, service delivery partners, system integration partnerships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the long-term care and broader health care sector, legislation, standards, and other requirements including the Fixing Long Term Care Act and corresponding regulations and other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal statutes which govern or influence the operation of the home.
  • Successful completion of, or currently enrolled in a recognized program in long term care home administration or management*
  • Those willing to enroll in such a program within six months after appointment will also be considered in which case successful completion of probation will partly be contingent upon passing such a program.
