Senior Business System Analyst (Contract)

Romspen is a leading Canadian non-bank mortgage lender specializing in commercial and industrial real estate mortgages. Our investments are comprised mostly of commercial and industrial first mortgages on properties primarily across Canada and the United States.

We provide customized mortgage solutions for term, bridge and construction financing. The current overall real estate mortgage portfolio is $3 billion.

Over the past 25 years we have invested over $8 billion in over 1000 real estate mortgages and have consistently earned strong absolute cash yields to investors.

As the Senior Business Analyst for the Yardi implementation project, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth transition to the Yardi platform over an 18-month period.

Working closely with an implementation vendor, internal business users from the finance team, and other relevant departments, you will facilitate the translation of business needs into technical requirements and ensure the implementation meets strategic business objectives.

This is a contract role for a period of 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary liaison between the implementation vendor, finance team, and other internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment of project objectives, specifically focusing on the integration and customization of Yardi modules such as Yardi Voyager and the Debt Module.
• Conduct thorough business process analyses to identify and document business requirements, workflows, and system integration needs.

This includes mapping out the customization of Yardi modules to fit unique business processes and compliance requirements in the industry.

• Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, including project plans, requirement specifications for Yardi module customization, test plans, and training materials tailored to each module's functionality and user interface.
• Coordinate and participate in end-to-end system testing of Yardi modules, ensuring the solution meets business requirements and identifying any potential issues with module integration or data integrity.
• Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) with business users for each Yardi module, documenting feedback, and coordinating with the vendor to address any module-specific concerns or customization requirements.
• Support the training of end-users on Yardi modules, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and resources to effectively use the Yardi system, with special emphasis on module-specific functionalities and best practices.
• Monitor project progress, specifically tracking the implementation and customization of Yardi modules, reporting on milestones, risks, and deviations from the project plan, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with IT and finance to ensure system integration and data migration activities are completed accurately and on time, with a focus on preserving data integrity across Yardi modules and existing systems.
• Assist with post-implementation reviews and the ongoing optimization of business processes to maximize the benefits of the Yardi system, including continuous improvement of Yardi module usage and performance.
• Act as a point of contact for ongoing Yardi module support and enhancements, liaising with the vendor to ensure the system evolves in line with business needs and industry trends.
• Oversee and manage the data migration process into the Yardi system, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. This involves close coordination with the finance and IT departments to ensure seamless integration of financial data across modules.
• Coordinate with the vendor to ensure that all Yardi modules are up-to-date with the latest features and comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Develop a comprehensive change management strategy to ensure smooth transition and adoption of the Yardi system across the organization.

This includes identifying potential resistance or challenges and developing plans to address them.

• Provide regular updates to senior management on the progress of the Yardi implementation, including achievements, challenges, and the overall impact on business operations.
• Establish and maintain a feedback loop with end-users post-implementation to capture insights on user experience, module functionality, and areas for improvement, feeding this information back into the system enhancement process.

Qualifications

• Post secondary qualification in in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Specific knowledge of Yardi software modules and the commercial real estate industry is highly desirable.
• Experience with data migration projects, particularly involving financial data.
• Minimum of at least five years of experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, with a proven track record in software implementation projects, preferably Yardi or similar systems.
• Strong understanding of finance operations and processes within the sector.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic project environment.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and business practices.
