The Talent Development Consultant, Learning Technology is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for the governance and advancement of learning technology across the enterprise.

This role acts as the subject matter expert on our Learning Management System (LMS) and ensures optimal system performance while providing consultative guidance, training, and support to learning teams.

The Consultant will lead the creation and oversight of learning technology policies and procedures, ensuring consistency and best practices.

Additionally, this role requires proactive research into new technologies to stay ahead of industry trends, with the ability to test, recommend, and introduce innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate will also be a skilled stakeholder manager, working closely with learning teams to meet organizational goals.

Experience with Articulate 360 and eLearning development is a plus.

This role is a full-time permanent role as an internal team member under the HR Talent Development team. Please note this role can be done from one of the following office locations Regina, Calgary, Guelph or Toronto.

The hybrid work model requires team members to be in office 2 days a week.

How You Will Create Impact :

  • Establish and maintain governance structures for the use of learning technologies across the enterprise to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Act as a consultant to internal learning teams, offering guidance on the best use of learning technologies to enhance the delivery of training and development programs.
  • Oversee and lead the learning technology workstream of the Enterprise Learning & Development Community of Practice. Take ownership of the LMS Evolution group and ensure we are evolving our current platforms in a timely fashion through the HR Ops team.
  • Design and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for learning technology use. Provide ongoing training and resources to teams on LMS functionalities and learning technology tools.
  • Proactively research and stay ahead of learning technology trends. Identify, test, and recommend new learning technologies that align with organizational goals.
  • Identify skill gaps, recommend appropriate internal and / or external learning technology interventions and development events, programs, processes, and solutions based on needs assessments and business need criteria.
  • Act as the first point of contact’ and internal consultant to the business on learning technology features, functionalities and best practices.
  • Lead the introduction and testing of new learning technologies. Work closely with learning teams to ensure smooth implementation and integration into existing systems and processes.
  • Oversee quarterly LMS updates and new feature releases, ensuring they are properly integrated and tested before deployment through the HR Ops team.
  • Occasionally support eLearning content development using tools like Articulate 360 or other authoring software if the need arises.

How you will succeed :

Ability to proactively research, test, and introduce new learning technologies, with a strong understanding of emerging trends in the field.

Experience consulting with learning teams and providing strategic guidance on learning technologies. Familiar with different e-learning authoring tools and be able to troubleshoot technical issues.

Ability to manage stakeholder relationships, including influencing and negotiating with learning managers and team members.

Ability to work both strategically and tactically, with strong attention to detail and project management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.

To join our team :

Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in learning technology roles, including expert-level proficiency in managing and optimizing an LMS.

Experience with Cornerstone SBX an asset.

Strong understanding of different learning technology options and be familiar with the latest trends and technologies in LMS.

They should also be able to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of different LMS options and make recommendations for the best option for the organization.

Strong understanding of learner experience design and how to support that through an ecosystem of technology

Proven experience creating and implementing policies, processes, and governance for learning technologies

Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360 is preferred.
