OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Development and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion the Senior Consultant, Learning and Organizational Development, is responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering a wide range of learning and organizational effectiveness programs and initiatives to advance our strategic and people plan priorities.

The Senior Consultant, Learning and Organizational Development will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to help build our people capability andto achieve our talent and leadership development and succession planning goals.

This includes working proactively to support hospital leaders and teams through change and transformation. The Senior Consultant oversees large scale strategic organizationaleffectiveness initiatives.

Serving as an internal expert, the Senior Consultant, Learning and Organizational Development is responsible for delivering innovative solutions that better assess, align, and utilize organizational and human resources atthe individual leader, team, and organizational levels such as facilitating group training sessions, developing and delivering team level interventions and providing consultation based in best practices.

This role will also support advancing our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity initiatives across the organization along with other aspects of the department's activities, as required in support of the organization’s strategic plan.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Work with management and other key stakeholders to understand leadership, learning and organizational development needs and supports the organization through the development of targeted initiatives;
  • Support the learning needs assessment and analysis process and the resulting content design and delivery of key learning initiatives;
  • Coordinates leadership development plans for emerging leaders ensuring appropriate development activities are identified, positioning our emerging leaders for future leadership opportunities
  • Support the organization's overall leadership development strategy around activities including leadership coaching and leadership program / workshop design and facilitation;
  • Benchmark and evaluate the effectiveness of staff learning and development programs and recommend appropriate measures when necessary to adjust misalignment and incorporate continuous improvements;
  • Assist with new policy and process development and implementation as well as making recommendations for improvements in alignment with the hospital’s overall organizational strategy;
  • Employ innovative and progressive learning and organizational development practices to support the strategic growth of both the organization and its people;
  • Support employee engagement survey initiatives and action planning process to monitor and plan;
  • Point of contact for other team members to advise and provide support on OD projects and initiatives
  • Provide recommendation for practices for learning, organizational development and staff engagement;
  • Participates in the planning and delivery of activities that stimulate the innovative, efficient and effective use of technology to support staff training and leadership development;
  • Develop and align Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity (EDI leadership and staff education and training with the organizational EDI goals
  • Manage General Orientation programs for new staff
  • Provide guidance and support to others corporately regarding use of effective learning techniques ( coaching, mentoring, and skill development) that supports the achievement of required outcomes
  • Champion the, vision, purpose and values while promoting staff and patient safety, experience and engagement.
  • Partner with HR to support for ongoing leadership development programs such as the Emerging Leaders Program and Talent Development Program
  • Support several talent management priorities ( competency implementation, individual development plans)

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial / Organizational (IO) Psychology, Organizational Behaviour Business Administration, Health Administration, Adult Education or the equivalent as evidenced by a combination of formal education / training / experience.

Master’s degree preferred.

CTDP designation considered an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in organizational development, training / education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred;
  • Highly developed understanding of leadership development, employee engagement, performance consulting, organizational design, project and change management methodologies, and adult learning principles
  • Demonstrate ability to assess organizational development / learning needs and design, implement, deliver and evaluate and sustain programs
  • Knowledge of and experience using adult learning theory, strategies for different learning needs, effective questioning techniques and session reviews / debriefs;
  • Change Management Practitioner Designation, preferred;
  • Technicalexpertise in leadership assessment methodologies, delivery technologies, learning theories, and best practices;
  • Demonstrated understanding of project management methodologies, employee engagement strategies and performance management systems;
  • Ability to design, develop, implement, deliver and follow up on training plans, curriculum and interventions;
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor at the leadership level;
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to train, facilitate, negotiate and influence and collaborate with others;
  • Ability to deal with competing, challenging, and changing priorities.
  • Experience managing projects from conception to implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and troubleshoot with critical and creative thinking ability
  • Flexible, organized and self-directed within scope of responsibility; has initiative and independent judgment
  • Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment
  • Have demonstrated the ability to support, inspire, coach and manage staff through change, with experience in managing conflict, achieving buy-in and collaborating for successful outcomes
