Position : Volunteer Assistant & HR Admin (Canada Summer Jobs)
No of Weeks : 35 hours per week
Hours of Work : 8 weeks
Reports to : Volunteer Services Coordinator
Position Summary :
Responsible for providing volunteer resources to support organization-wide services and programs including conducting volunteer recruitment, orientation, and training;
involves in efforts to grow, market, and promote program, supports development of program and volunteers, developing and implementing recognition events and engagement activities.
Will also be responsible for providing ongoing administrative support to the Human Resources team.
Responsibilities :
- Responsible for providing volunteer resources to support organization-wide services and programs
- Conducts volunteer recruitment, reference checks, orientation, and training; involves in efforts to grow, market, and promote program
- Assist with maintaining Volunteer HRIS System Better Impact to ensure all documents have been submitted into volunteer profiled and maintaining accuracy and up to date.
- Supports development of program and volunteers, developing and implementing recognition events and engagement activities such as Volunteer Recognition Event, Volunteer BBQ, Monthly Social Events for Volunteers, Volunteer News Letter
Education :
- Post-secondary education in Volunteer Management, Human Resources, and / or relevant experience
- PAVR-O membership and Certified Volunteer Resource Manager designation an asset
Qualifications :
- Experience working with volunteers
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment
- Experience working in diverse communities, with the ability to be culturally sensitive
- Experience working with seniors an asset
- Experience using a volunteer management system
- Strong communication skills to work with diverse groups of clients, staff, volunteers, and partners
- Strong organizational, creative, and forward-thinking skills
- Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (specifically Word, Excel, Teams) with the ability to effectively collaborate using Google applications
- Ability to complete accurate record keeping, analyzing, and reporting
- Ability to handle competing demands and work under pressure with composure
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

- Vulnerable Sector screening required
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or Medical Exemption certificate required
Requirements :
To be eligible, applicants must be :
- between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
- a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
