Job description

Job Type : Full Time

Function : Logistics / Operations

Address : 160 Bloor Street East, 11th Floor, Toronto, ON

Working Model : Hybrid

At Sephora Canada, we're passionate about finding and sharing beauty in the world. Our constant innovation, our ability to see and lead trends, and our focus on providing an outstanding customer experience make us the most-loved beauty community and top of mind for every Canadian. We find beauty in our communities, in our differences, our experiences, and in the spirit of our employees.

ABOUT THE ROLE :

As the Manager of Customs Operations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing Sephora Canada's international trade operations. Your expertise will ensure seamless compliance with global trade regulations while optimizing our import and export processes to promote efficiency in our global supply chain. This exciting role calls for a keen understanding of international trade laws, customs regulations, and logistics, paired with strong leadership and communication skills.

You will be a trusted resource for internal and external partners, offering timely and accurate guidance on compliance activities such as import / export regulations, HS tariff classifications, duty drawback processes, post-entry audits, and Free Trade Agreement management. You'll collaborate closely with supply chain leadership teams, fostering partnerships with CBSA, brokers, vendors, carriers, and FSC teams to support innovative global trade strategies. This is your chance to make a tangible impact and be a driving force behind Sephora's continued success in the global marketplace.

WHAT YOU'LL DO :

  • Lead and oversee day-to-day inbound and cross-border operations, including non-traditional schedules during peak periods to support business needs
  • Inspire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of trade compliance and logistics professionals
  • Foster a collaborative and improvement-driven culture within the team
  • Stay up-to-date on regulations and industry trends to lead an effective customs compliance program
  • Identify and resolve areas of non-compliance with proactive measures and innovative solutions
  • Ensure customs compliance from entry to post-audit across air, ground, and ocean freight
  • Provide expert guidance to new and existing brands on international import / export requirements
  • Analyze data to drive process optimization and embed a continuous improvement mindset
  • Develop and implement strategies that optimize global supply chain efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure partners meet service level agreements
  • Prepare clear and concise daily, weekly, and monthly reports
  • Maximize duty avoidance opportunities through trade agreements and duty reduction programs, while executing timely post-entry audits for import / export efficiencies
  • Own and maintain HS Tariff classifications determinations for the complete product assortment
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Transportation, Merchandising, Finance, and DC Operations, to streamline processes
  • Own and manage customs compliance lines within the Logistics P&L, driving cost-saving initiatives with measurable results
  • Partner with internal teams to handle month / quarter / year-end closures and reporting seamlessly
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with consultants, international vendors, suppliers, and logistics partners
  • Evaluate and onboard new vendors based on performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
  • Support the development and documentation of key processes to ensure operational excellence

WHAT YOU'LL BRING :

  • 3-5 years of recent, relevant experience in customs compliance or logistics
  • A post-secondary education from a college or university
  • A strong understanding of corporate compliance risks and the ability to address or mitigate them effectively
  • Expertise in customs processes, including entry, drawback, and HS classification
  • Experience with transportation logistics, particularly inbound operations
  • Familiarity with the CARM portal
  • CCS designation (Certified Customs Specialist)
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen aptitude for numbers
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and other MS Office applications
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly
  • Meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving expertise
  • A flexible, team-oriented approach to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • A commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality
  • Availability to adapt to varying schedules based on business needs
  • WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HERE :

  • You'll be part of a unique culture and family of passionate and inspiring individuals.
  • You'll work alongside the best talent in the industry - people you'll be proud to work with.
  • You'll have access to the global community of luxury group LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy) for endless career opportunities.
  • You'll have the opportunity to support causes through our Gift of Giving Program (matched donations through Benevity), donations of funds for volunteer time and offering and much more.
  • Benefits you can mix and match, depending on your needs.
  • Employee Assistance Program services for those times you need extra support.
  • Access to our Well-Being@Sephora program to support your mental, financial, physical, and social well-being
  • Holidays, time off, Summer Friday hours and flexibility to support work-life balance.
  • And of course, there's our incredible swag - free product gifts throughout the year and tons of discounts with our brand partners.
  • Sephora Canada strongly believes in equal opportunity when it comes to employment and advancement. Our goal is to be inclusive, diverse, and representative of the communities where we work while creating an environment where every person can belong, grow, and build a beautiful career. This commitment applies to all candidates and employees regardless of race, ethnicity, citizenship, creed, place of origin, religion, sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, family status, marital status, disability, age, and / or any other diversity dimensions.
