General Overview
Kinterra is looking for a Vice President, Mining Engineering Evaluations to plan, organize, direct and control the mining evaluations and value creation processes for the company.
This senior managerial role will oversee (i) due diligence on potential acquisitions, (ii) the identification of value creation opportunities and mitigation of risks for new and existing assets, including the incorporation of mining considerations into financial models and analysis, and (iii) leading mining and technical assistance for Kinterra’s portfolio companies.
Key Responsibilities :
Review, interpret, and evaluate a variety of base and battery metals assets to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks for each asset from a mining engineering perspective and make decisions on assets based on short and long term business plans.
Evaluate capital spending and operating costs for mining projects and incorporate mining considerations, program costs and timelines into financial models.
Establish objectives for the company regarding mining plans.
Oversee the implementation of project management best practices to ensure objectives, project timelines, and budgets are met.
Optimize mine plans and make decisions for improvements in mining techniques, cost efficiency, and productivity.
Represent the company as a mining engineering expert in communications with external services providers, including consultants and counterparties through the diligence process.
Represent the company in making informed recommendations to the Investment Committee regarding assets under management and opportunities undergoing due diligence.
Provide instruction to management to ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to mining engineering.
Lead and allocate technical resources to ensure mining plans are being executed in accordance with overall objectives.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Coordinate with other departments to allocate resources to ensure compliance of policies and procedures.
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or related field. Master's degree an asset.
5+ years of experience in mining engineering management.
Experience with mining technologies such as Deswik or Vulcan, project and process evaluation, capital, and operating cost benchmarking.
Experience in mining engineering optimization and analysis.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
Understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to mining engineering.
