Reporting to the Project Director, the Environmental Manager will work closely to maintain environmental compliance and oversee the environmental monitoring program .
Key Responsibilities include :
- Ensure the day-to-day implementation of the Environmental Management System and auditing and reporting its performance.
- Managing all environmental issues associated with the Project on a day-to-day basis, including overseeing the environmental monitoring program.
- Establishing and maintaining working relationships with relevant Environmental Authorities and Interested Parties.
- Ensure environmental issues and requirements are met in accordance with the Project Agreement.
- Provide direction, support, and leadership to the project team in all matters relating to environmental regulations, permits and requirements.
- Develop, implement, and maintain an effective health environmental management system for the project, in conformance with the ISO 14001 standard requirements.
- Support the project team in the preparation and submission of applications for environmental permits, and their management.
- Oversee the environmental aspects of the project design.
- Work closely with the Technical Services team to ensure all environmental aspects are addressed and project schedules are met.
- Coordinate with environmental sub-contractors to provide specialty input and direction.
- Analyze and identify leading and lagging trends to assist in environmental protection and compliance.
- Participate in and / or provide direction to others conducting environmental considerations, review site needs, including identify and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance and knowledge.
- Compile quarterly and annual reports to update ongoing environmental processes and address current issues.
- Ensure compliance with all related environmental activities and identify and manage risks; verifies and monitors associated training requirements.
- Implementation of Design-Builder’s environmental obligations set out in the Contract.
- Ensure environmental issues are addressed and requirements are met in accordance with the Contract and all Environmental Reference Documents
Position Requirements :
- B.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering or a related field
- 5-7 years of Construction industry experience required.
- Experience in working on a Transit Project would be preferred.
- Familiarity with building codes, zoning regulations, environmental regulations, and other relevant laws and regulations.
- Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
- Outcome focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyse and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
- Ability to connect and interact with people to seek different perspectives.
- Superb communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
