Job description

Why BCAA?

Feel proud of what you do and help shape the future of BC at a BC Top Employer. We’re driven by purpose – delivering peace of mind to one in three BC households with insurance, roadside assistance, auto repair, Evo Car Share and Evolve E-Bike Share. With a long history of keeping roads safe and giving back in ways that build stronger communities, we offer a wide variety of meaningful, rewarding careers that move BC forward.

We are currently hiring a Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer (Manual & Automation) based in our Burnaby Head Office.

As a Senior QA Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance and quality of applications and systems that support Evo Car Share, Evolve Bike Share, Auto Service Centres and Road Assist. You'll work closely with product leaders, technology teams and vendor partners to validate new functionality, strengthen automated testing practices, support production stability and contribute to successful technology releases.

You'll have the opportunity to work with a unique blend of web applications, mobile platforms, APIs and connected vehicle technologies, helping shape the future of mobility while continuously learning and growing your expertise.

Who you are:

  • A curious and analytical problem solver who enjoys understanding how systems work and identifying opportunities to improve quality.

  • A strong communicator who can clearly articulate risks, defects and quality concerns to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Detail-oriented and methodical, with a passion for delivering exceptional user experiences.

  • A collaborative team player who values partnerships across technology teams, business stakeholders and external vendors.

  • A self-starter who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys tackling new challenges.

  • An advocate for continuous improvement who is motivated to strengthen testing practices, automation coverage and overall product quality.

What You’ll Do

Quality Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop risk-based test plans and testing approaches.

  • Review requirements and user stories to ensure appropriate coverage.

  • Assess and communicate quality risks, release readiness and recommendations.

  • Partner with technology teams, business stakeholders and vendors to drive quality outcomes.

  • Mentor and support junior team members.

Test Execution & Automation

  • Execute manual and automated testing across web, mobile, API and mobility platforms.

  • Build, maintain and enhance automated test suites using Tricentis Tosca.

  • Identify, document and manage defects through resolution.

  • Monitor regression testing and continuously improve automation coverage and reliability.

  • Contribute to customer-focused improvements and release quality.

Production Support & Continuous Improvement

  • Support application configuration, upgrades and production releases.

  • Troubleshoot system issues and participate in root cause analysis.

  • Help maintain stable, secure and reliable platforms.

  • Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, tools and overall quality practices.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including 5+ years of hands-on software quality assurance and testing experience.

  • Strong experience testing web applications, mobile applications, APIs, system migrations and integrated technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated expertise in manual and automated testing methodologies, including functional, regression, integration, system and exploratory testing.

  • Experience developing and maintaining automated test suites; Tricentis Tosca experience is preferred.

  • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman.

  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and software test automation practices.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause investigation skills.

  • Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments using tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Bonus Skills!

  • Tricentis Tosca certification or formal training.

  • Experience with SQL.

  • Experience supporting mobility, transportation or operational technology platforms.

  • Experience testing connected hardware and software solutions.

The salary range for this position is $100,306.20 to $125,382.84 and is determined via job-related knowledge, skills, experience, certifications, market demand and internal equity. In addition to base salary and BCAA benefits, this position is eligible for a performance bonus target of 9%, with the opportunity to earn up to 15%.

What we offer:

  • The chance to make a difference every day in the lives of British Columbians, BCAA Members and our communities.

  • Career and personal development to help you grow and reach your goals.

  • Incentives that recognize team and individual sales and performance.

  • Flexible benefits to support your health and lifestyle, and wellness dollars* to keep your body, mind and soul thriving.

  • A competitive rewards package including salary performance bonus programs, pension plan*, and more to help build your personal wealth.

  • Paid time off including vacation, and days for wellness, volunteering, and cultural, spiritual or religious connection.

  • BCAA membership, with valuable perks and Member savings on every day and special spending, from gas and coffee to clothes, sports and event tickets, and hotels.

  • Meaningful, rewarding work for a BC Top Employer known for putting people first and constantly building a better workplace for all our team members.
