At the City of Penticton, our goal is to serve our residents, businesses, and visitors through good governance, partnership and the delivery of effective and community-focused services.
The City of Penticton is looking to fill the full-time permanent position of Powerline Technician in our Energy & Environment Department. The Energy & Environment Department is responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the City of Penticton's distribution electrical systems, as well as climate action work. This department manages all electric services from infrastructure and electrical distribution to metering, traffic signals and street lighting.
Reporting to the Electric Utility Foreman, the Powerline Technician (PLT) will work alongside other PLT's to maintain the City's electrical infrastructure in a safe and productive manner. The City of Penticton takes pride in the workmanship and operational stability of its system supporting 21,000 customers all within the city limits.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide good customer service
- Install steel and wood poles live line
- Pull underground cable and install terminations
- Install and repair street lighting and traffic signals
- Routine maintenance of electrical equipment
- Obtain and issue Permits and Protection Guarantees
- Perform low voltage service work
- Operate aerial devices, radial boom derricks and other utility equipment
- Fill out timesheets and material records
- Locate City owned underground infrastructure for BC One call
- Install civil ducting and equipment
- Climb wood poles at various heights as needed

Assessment : Candidates will be required to complete a skills test Position type : Full-Time Permanent (37.5 hours per week) Wage : $52.30 per hour (IBEW). Please note the IBEW collective agreement expired in 2024 and when the new agreement is in place this rate is subject to change Benefits : Attractive benefits, vacation and pension package Comp # : 25-127
