Solutions Analyst
The Abbotsford Police Department, with staff strength in excess of 300, is committed to making Abbotsford the safest city in BC. Through continuous improvement and innovation, we strive to provide the highest quality of service to our growing community. As a member of the Information Technology Section, the Solutions Analyst position is responsible for helping solve complex business problems through the application of strong analytical, process management, and computer programming capabilities. The Solutions Analyst conducts requirements analyses, assesses business requirements, develops and recommends solutions; acts as lead in the development or re-engineering of information systems and the implementation of information technology; performs a variety of technical tasks and ongoing applications support; and monitors and evaluates the performance of enterprise systems, databases and related applications.
Key areas of responsibility
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to determine and document business requirements.
- Architecting software solutions, coding, testing and implementing systems.
- Mapping business processes and recommending improvements and changes.
- Coordinating IT projects, system upgrades and deployments.
- Providing end user training and supporting change management.
- Responding to user calls, investigating, troubleshooting, documenting, assessing, and resolving software and hardware problems on IT systems.
- Setting up server databases and creating reports.
- Assisting in enhancing and maintaining Network and Data Security.
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems from a recognized post-secondary institution, supplemented with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in systems analysis and business process design and improvement. Experience in full stack application design and architecture, including integration to other systems, is required. Candidates must also have knowledge of administering Windows servers, Linux servers, VMs, SQL servers, and Active Directory. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
