The Unit Manager for the FMC Stroke Unit provides essential leadership in a fast paced clinical environment, ensuring daily operations run smoothly and supports the delivery of high quality stroke care. The role is responsible for guiding an interprofessional team, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, and ensuring unit practices align with organizational standards and patient needs. Key responsibilities include overseeing the development and maintenance of unit procedures, supporting the resolution of patient care issues, and leading operational decisions that influence workflow, safety, and care quality. The Unit Manager also plays a central role in people management through hiring, coaching, performance management, scheduling, and supporting staff development. In addition, the position contributes to department wide initiatives by fostering strong relationships with physicians, allied health, and partners, responding to patient feedback, and ensuring effective communication across programs. The role is further accountable for resource management, including equipment, supplies, and overtime monitoring, while supporting improvements that enhance operational efficiency. Participation in planning and quality improvement initiatives allows the Unit Manager to shape care processes, strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration, and support ongoing program development within an outcome driven environment.
Required Qualifications: A baccalaureate degree in Nursing or a related healthcare field and active registration with the applicable regulatory college are required.
