Job Summary
The Coordinator, Energy and Climate, supports UFV’s energy management and sustainability goals by assisting with data analysis, project implementation, research, and compliance with sustainability standards. This position plays a key role in monitoring UFV’s electric vehicle (EV) charging network and supports initiatives that improve the university’s resilience to climate change.
The Coordinator, Energy and Climate contributes to coordination efforts in reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions, improving campus climate-resilience, and provides operational, research and technical support to the sustainability office and university.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Energy Management, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
- Two (2) years’ experience in energy management, sustainability, or climate resilience roles; internships or co-op experience considered.
- Certification in energy management (e.g., CEM, LEED) is an asset. Strong analytical skills, particularly in data analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in energy management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Energy Star Portfolio Manager, or similar).
- Knowledge of climate resilience concepts, sustainability standards, and energy certifications (such as ISO 50001, LEED).
- Ability to foster a safe workplace by following safe work procedures, recommending changes where necessary, and reporting unsafe conditions or incidents.
- In-depth knowledge of sustainability principles, practices and methodologies. Strong organizational, time management skills, analytical and communication skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- Knowledge of utility rebate programs and funding opportunities for energy efficiency and climate resilience projects.
- Experience with renewable energy or climate adaptation initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships in a team environment.
- Tact, discretion and diplomacy are crucial to performing the duties of the position.
