Salary Range: $100,000 to $130,000 based on experience
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to join a well established, locally rooted engineering firm based in Abbotsford, BC. This practice has been operating for over two decades and is known for delivering practical, timely, and cost effective engineering solutions across residential, commercial, and industrial projects throughout the Lower Mainland and surrounding regions.
The firm works closely with developers, builders, municipalities, and private clients, offering an integrated and collaborative approach to project delivery. Their culture emphasizes ethical engineering, technical rigour, and responsive client service, with a strong focus on constructability and real world problem solving.
What You Will Do
- Lead structural design for wood frame multi family residential and mixed use projects, with exposure to steel, concrete, and tilt up construction
- Coordinate and communicate with the internal structural team, consultants, and clients throughout the design process
- Review shop drawings for compliance with structural drawings and the BC Building Code
- Address construction phase issues and develop practical solutions in collaboration with clients
- Perform field reviews and prepare written reports
- Review field reviews completed by EITs and technicians
- Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs

- Strong background in wood frame multi family residential design
- Experience with steel, concrete, and tilt up buildings considered a strong asset
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Strong communication skills and confidence in client facing situations
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast paced environment
Why Join This Team
This role offers long term stability within a consistently busy practice, hands on involvement across all project phases, and the opportunity to take on both technical and mentorship responsibilities. You will work closely with experienced leadership in an environment that values autonomy, accountability, and professional growth without the bureaucracy of a large corporate firm.
If this opportunity sounds like a fit, please apply directly. Only candidates selected for interview will be contacted.
