The Field Service Technician diagnoses, repairs, maintains, and inspects equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. This role supports customer productivity through high-quality technical service delivered in both shop and field environments, while adhering to company safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The Field Service Technician works collaboratively with Parts, Service Advisors, and fellow technicians and represents the Company’s commitment to safety, professionalism, and service excellence.
This is a field-based position and will require frequent (local) travel. Hepson Equipment will be putting up a satellite location within Portage la Prairie.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic issues in accordance with manufacturer standards.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements.
- Test and verify equipment performance following service.
- Provide in-shop and field service support, including peak-season and emergency repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Complete accurate work orders, including labour, parts, and service notes.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and safe work practices.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses; exercise stop-work authority when required.
- Communicate findings and service recommendations clearly to customers and Service Advisors.
- Work collaboratively with Parts and Service teams to support timely, high-quality repairs.
- Support apprentices and junior technicians through guidance and knowledge sharing, as applicable.
- Participate in manufacturer and internal training.
- Stay current on equipment, technology, and service practices.
- Contribute to quality, efficiency, and process improvements.
Qualifications:
- Journeyperson Agricultural or Heavy Equipment Technician certification preferred, or actively registered apprentice.
- Previous experience servicing agricultural or heavy equipment preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Experience completing inspections, work orders, and service documentation.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Field service requires local travel
- Work performed in shop and field environments, including outdoor conditions
- Physical work involving tools, equipment, and machinery
- Exposure to typical shop conditions (noise, dust, oils, fuels)
- Overtime and extended hours during peak seasons
