Whether you work in the skilled trades or are a business professional, a career at OPG is an opportunity to electrify your life on -- and off -- the job.

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Business Architect.

Job Overview

Reporting to the Senior Manager Enterprise Architecture, this position is responsible to lead enterprise business architecture and modernization activities by developing future-state capabilities, value streams, process models, operating-model views, customer journeys, and investment roadmaps that inform strategic business and IT decisions, optimize processes, and enable large-scale technology implementation; serve as the strategic liaison between executive leaders, business stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to translate organizational goals into integrated, technology-enabled solutions, identify innovation opportunities, advise on solution impacts and trade-offs, and support stakeholder engagement, change adoption, and SAP-enabled transformation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Create and maintain business capability models, value streams, process models, customer journey maps, operating-model views, investment roadmaps, and other business architecture deliverables to enable informed product, business, and IT investment decisions.
  • Partner with enterprise architects and business stakeholders to identify innovation opportunities, assess disruptive market forces, and apply emerging or existing technologies to advance strategic outcomes, including revenue growth, cost optimization, and risk mitigation.
  • Facilitate collaboration across lines of business, product teams, and delivery functions to design integrated solutions, advising solution and technical architects on business impacts, options, dependencies, risks, costs, benefits, and required evolution of the business architecture.
  • Ensure business and operating-model components are coherent and interconnected while developing compelling transformation narratives and targeted stakeholder communications, advocating for flexible, human-centred approaches such as design thinking and cross-functional teams to accelerate adoption and sustained business outcomes.
  • Lead business and process modernization initiatives by defining future-state processes, standards, and procedures that leverage industry best practices and enable large-scale technology implementation.
  • Act as the strategic bridge between business stakeholders, executive leadership, implementation teams, and technical resources, translating business objectives and operational needs into clear technology requirements.
  • Partner with section leaders and executives to understand organizational strategy, goals, and key performance indicators, and define how IT-enabled solutions can support achievement of targeted outcomes.
  • Support the modernization hub by identifying technology-driven innovation opportunities, optimizing current processes, facilitating effective change communications, and contributing SAP expertise to enterprise transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 4 Year University education in computer science, engineering, business, information systems or related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of experience supporting large-scale business, process, and technology modernization initiatives, translating strategic business needs into technology-enabled solutions, and collaborating with executive stakeholders, architects, and delivery teams to drive innovation, process improvement, and SAP-enabled transformation.
  • Extensive experience leading or supporting large-scale business, process, and technology modernization initiatives, including complex enterprise implementations.
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge business stakeholders, executive leadership, and technical delivery teams by translating strategic objectives and business needs into clear technology requirements.
  • Experience developing business architecture artefacts, including business capability models, value streams, process models, customer journey maps, operating-model views, and transformation roadmaps.
  • Strong process modernization and improvement capability, including assessing current-state standards and procedures, designing future-state processes, and applying industry best practices to optimize service delivery.
  • Experience partnering with enterprise, solution, and technical architects to assess solution options, business impacts, dependencies, risks, costs, benefits, and alignment with strategic outcomes and key performance indicators.
  • Experience driving technology-enabled innovation and change adoption through cross-functional collaboration, stakeholder engagement, design thinking, targeted communications, and SAP-enabled transformation initiatives.

The successful candidate will exhibit uncompromising integrity and commitment to upholding corporate values, and the OPG Code of Business Conduct.

OPG is committed to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and accessible environment. If you require accommodation during the selection process, please contact AODA@opg.com.

Join OPG and make history.

The Darlington New Nuclear Project is leading the way in the advancement of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology in Canada – the future of nuclear power generation! Using new and innovative technologies such as small modular reactors, hydrogen and battery storage, while expanding our hydroelectric and nuclear portfolios, we are changing the electricity landscape in Ontario.

Important Information

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods. Maintaining a high-performance culture and excellence is a core expectation of every member of our leadership team and is rewarded through the established compensation framework.

OPG is committed to employment equity. As such, we encourage applicants from equity-seeking communities (Indigenous Peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, and women). We strongly believe that alleviating the under-representation of equity-seeking individuals will create a stronger OPG team and allow us to better serve the needs of our diverse communities.

In order to fulfill the above-mentioned purpose, priority in hiring may be given to qualified persons who self-identify as a member of equity-seeking groups as identified in the application process. This initiative constitutes a special program under the Human Rights Code/Canadian Human Rights Act.

All job postings at OPG are to fill existing vacancies within our organization.

OPG may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools as part of the applicant screening process. However, applications will also be reviewed by a member of our Recruitment team to ensure a fair and thorough assessment.

Please submit your application online at https://jobs.opg.com/. OPG thanks all those who apply; however, only candidates considered for an interview will be contacted.
