Job Title: SAP Demand Planner

Job Description

The SAP Demand Planner leads the short- to mid-term (0–6 months) customer forecasting process within Integrated Business Planning, creating an unbiased, data-driven forecast that aligns Sales, Customer, and Category perspectives. This role owns the customer demand plan, drives forecast accuracy and performance, and partners cross-functionally to support service, inventory, and waste reduction goals in a fast-moving, high-volume environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the short- to mid-term (0–6 months) customer demand forecast within the Integrated Business Planning process.
  • Develop an unconstrained, unbiased forecast at SKU, PPG, and category levels, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Build the forecast from the bottom up, incorporating customer, category, and sales inputs.
  • Manage weekly pacing and SKU/location mix to reflect the latest demand signals.
  • Monitor and improve forecast accuracy, bias, and error through regular KPI reviews.
  • Reconcile gaps between customer and category forecasts, driving alignment and resolution.
  • Manage innovation and product lifecycle activities, including phase-in and phase-out planning.
  • Perform reporting and analytics to support demand planning decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on forecast errors and service issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Analyze consumption versus shipment trends to refine assumptions and improve forecast quality.
  • Document and maintain clear forecast assumptions, drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Maintain and update APO (SAP APO) master data to ensure planning systems remain accurate and reliable.
  • Prepare and present forecast performance reports and KPIs to stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate closely with Customer Business Teams, Sales, Sales Strategy, and Category Demand Planning to align plans and priorities.
  • Engage with external customers to gather insights, validate assumptions, and improve forecast reliability.
  • Contribute to planning improvements that support better service levels, optimized inventory, and reduced waste.
  • Support planning for external manufacturing partners and co-manufacturing where applicable.

Essential Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, production planning, materials planning, logistics, or a closely related supply chain function.
  • Experience in a CPG/FMCG environment with exposure to fast-moving, high-volume operations.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP and planning tools, including SAP APO.
  • Strong experience in supply chain management, including supply planning, inventory management, procurement, and MRP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Proven ability to work with data, interpret trends, and translate insights into actionable plans.
  • University degree or professional designation in a relevant field.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics in a planning or supply chain context.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • CPIM, CSCP, or IBF credentials are an asset.
  • Experience planning for external manufacturing partners, including co-manufacturing.
  • Experience driving planning improvements focused on service, inventory optimization, and waste reduction.
  • Experience in a food industry environment is an advantage.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives within supply chain or planning functions.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams with Sales, Category, and Customer-focused groups.
  • Strong communication skills to explain forecast assumptions, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.

Work Environment

You will join a collaborative team of four demand planners, with each planner responsible for specific customers.
