The Senior Solution Configurator is a hands‑on technical integration specialist responsible for designing, developing, configuring, and supporting end‑to‑end integrations between SAP S/4HANA and multiple third‑party systems.
This role sits within a complex enterprise SAP landscape and requires deep experience in SAP application integration, including real‑time and batch interfaces, secure data exchange, API management, and collaboration with functional SAP teams and external vendors.
The ideal candidate is not a functional SAP consultant and not a general software developer—they are an integration‑focused SAP technologist who understands SAP data structures, business processes, and enterprise integration patterns.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Integration Design & Development
- Design, build, configure, and support SAP S/4HANA integrations with internal and external systems (cloud, on‑prem, SaaS).
- Develop and maintain interfaces using ABAP, including custom RFCs, IDocs, BAPIs, and enhancements.
- Build integration components using REST and SOAP web services, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
- Develop and maintain batch and file‑based integrations using SFTP and scheduled jobs.
- Work with SAP Integration Services / middleware platforms to orchestrate data flows and transformations.
API & Middleware Responsibilities
- Configure and manage API integrations using Azure API Management (APIM) or equivalent enterprise integration platforms.
- Support API lifecycle management (design, versioning, security, monitoring).
- Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, certificates, tokens).
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration failures, data inconsistencies, and performance issues.
Technical Collaboration & Delivery
- Collaborate closely with: SAP functional teams (Finance, Supply Chain, Asset Management, etc.) Enterprise Architecture and Integration teams Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams External vendors and system integrators
- Translate functional requirements into technical integration designs.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and solution walkthroughs.
- Support testing activities (unit, system, integration, UAT) and production cutovers.
- Provide ongoing post‑go‑live support and optimization.
Operational Excellence & Documentation
- Ensure integrations follow enterprise standards for security, performance, and maintainability.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, interface specifications, and support runbooks.
- Support incident management, root‑cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mandatory Qualifications (Must Have)
- 5+ years of hands‑on SAP application integration experience
- Proven experience working with SAP S/4HANA
- Strong technical skills in: ABAP (custom development, enhancements, interface objects) REST & SOAP APIs SQL SFTP
- Experience with at least one scripting or programming language used in integrations: Python and/or Java
- Hands‑on experience with: SAP Integration Services (e.g., CPI, PI/PO, or equivalent) Azure API Management (APIM) or similar enterprise API platforms
- Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, data mapping, and error handling
- Experience supporting integrations in a large, complex enterprise environment
Preferred / Strong Assets
- Experience integrating SAP with: ERP, CRM, EAM, HR, Finance, or external regulatory systems
- Knowledge of SAP security concepts related to integrations
- Experience working in hybrid cloud/on‑prem environments
- Familiarity with: Azure integration services Monitoring and alerting tools for integrations
- Prior experience in utilities, infrastructure, or highly regulated industries
