Hamilton Health Sciences Specialized Geriatric Services provides service across all sites through the Geriatric Rehabilitation Unit, Centre for Healthy Aging, and the Geriatric Consultation Team.
Position Summary
The Administrative Assistant will provide clerical support to the Chief of Geriatrics in his/her administrative and clinical duties of ambulatory care, outreach visits, and/or inpatient consultation. The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks including but not limited to: scheduling, billing, coordinating physician call schedules, establishing resident call schedules and clinics, submitting expenses, preparing presentations, collating data, arranging and minute-taking for meetings, and receiving and supporting management of physician, patient or family concerns. The Administrative Assistant will report to the Clinical Manager of Specialized Geriatric Services in collaboration with the Chief of Geriatrics.

Qualifications
1. Graduate of Community College Business Secretarial Program or equivalent
2. Minimum of 2 years of recent experience
3. Proficient keyboarding skills (60 wpm)
4. Demonstrated proficient computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database systems including MS Office, Windows, EPIC, Sharepoint, Taleo, Kronos
5. Demonstrated ability to create and maintain various databases and generate reports from these databases
6. Proven calendar management, experience developing agenda and taking minutes
7. Proven skills for human resources support to post, organize interviews and onboard staff
8. Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents
9. Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and interpersonal skills within a professional and team environment
10. Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative, organize and establish priorities
11. Demonstrated ability to meet project and task deadlines, excellent organizational skills and effective problem solving abilities, work with minimal supervision
12. Demonstrated ability to develop administrative systems that create efficient work flow
13. Demonstrated ability to appreciate confidential nature of position
14. Commitment to Hamilton Health Sciences vision and continuous quality improvement; patient-centered care; strong customer service focus
15. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
