Responsibilities
Business Development
Build client relationships through identifying market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities.
Identify and pursue business opportunities within the marketplace, where Dillon might succeed in securing work assignments.
Contribute to proposals through budget development and proposal writing.
Collaboration with staff across Canada for the purposes of project delivery, client relationship development, and opportunity / project research.
Technical Practice, Project Management & Design
Lead the scoping, development, and execution of environmental permitting and project approval programs, and environmental programs including research, field work, and technical report writing.
Support the development of environmental assessments registration documents, compensation / offsetting plans, and related environmental permitting assignments at the provincial and federal levels.
Scope, plan, develop, and implement assessment programs for a variety of projects across the public and private sectors.
Coordinate project team activities, provide direction to project team members, and contribute to development of staff.
Learning & Development
Continued development of self, including both technical skills and business acumen.
Contribution to the career development of less tenured staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
Contribution to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations.
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in a relevant environmental, physical science, or engineering related discipline.
A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated professional experience in environmental consulting, industrial, regulatory setting or related field with the specific emphasis on environmental permitting.
Valid driver’s license (Class 5)
Excellent communication and report writing skills.
Proficiency in English. Working knowledge of French would be considered an asset.
Experience
- In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements.
- Experience in the preparation of regulatory applications and submissions.
- General working knowledge of various environmental and social science disciplines with a specific focus on identifying potential environmental effects and mitigation associated with a proposed development.
- Expertise in a related technical discipline (such as terrestrial ecology, wildlife biology, aquatic biology, air quality, is an asset.
- Experience in conducting public, stakeholder, and Indigenous engagement and consultation would be considered an asset.
- Excellent Project management and client relationship skills.
- Advanced critical thinking, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Commitment to project quality and capability of meeting project deadlines.
