Qualification Coordinator
Government of AlbertaEdmonton, Alberta- Full-time
Role Responsibilities
The Qualification Coordinator (QC) is a key member of the Assessment team responsible for reviewing, assessing, and verifying applications across multiple Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT) programs, including the Apprenticeship Program, Trades Qualifier pathways, and the Achievement in Business Competency (Blue Seal) program. The Trades Qualifier programs provide individuals who meet the minimum program requirements, the opportunity to demonstrate industry-established competencies in an Alberta designated trade, and upon successful completion, obtain a journeyperson certificate.
The Qualification Coordinator (QC) guides applicants through the established processes and services as a primary liaison throughout their assessment pathway and journey. Working closely with clients, AIT staff and external stakeholders, the QC ensures an efficient, consistent, and policy-aligned assessment process. At key decision points the QC is instrumental in determining the appropriate process pathway for each applicant and ensures that all actions comply with program standards. The QC also contributes to the continuous improvement of program policies, processes, and procedures.
The QC reports to the Senior Technical Trades Advisor (STTA), and operates within the AIT program framework, adhering to all established policies, processes, and standards.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate and Facilitate Trades Qualifier Program Processes: Determine the appropriate certification pathway (e.g., supervision verification, work experience assessment, competency assessment) based on applicant information, program requirements, and policy.
- Engage Internal and External Stakeholders: Coordinate with AIT Officers from other units for assessment activities and share necessary information.
- Provide Program Insights and Operational Support: Prepare synthesized data, status updates, and program reports for the Manager and Director of Assessment, Certification and Business Integration (ACBI).
