Powertech Labs, a global leader in clean energy solutions and a subsidiary of BC Hydro, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Hydrogen Infrastructure team. We design and build advanced hydrogen refueling stations, compressed hydrogen systems, and energy transition technologies. We are industry leaders in designing, building, and operating advanced compressed hydrogen refueling solutions, including stations, lightweight tube trailers, and certification equipment. Our team pioneered turnkey containerized fueling stations, introducing the world’s first 700-bar fast-fill station and the first capable of fueling four vehicles simultaneously.
As a Project Engineer, you will manage hydrogen infrastructure projects from concept to completion. This includes coordinating across mechanical, process, and electrical disciplines to deliver innovative solutions. Your responsibilities will span project management, system specification, analysis, testing, integration, troubleshooting, and preparing technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning : Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables; develop and maintain schedules and resource plans.
- Technical Support : Provide engineering expertise throughout design, procurement, and construction; review drawings and specifications; support testing in compliance with international standards and client requirements.
- Execution & Monitoring : Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors; track progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions.
- Quality & Safety : Ensure adherence to safety regulations and quality standards; conduct inspections and audits.
- Reporting : Prepare status updates, cost tracking, and documentation for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and systems engineering teams to define integration requirements.
- Interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation throughout testing phases and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
- Apply engineering principles to testing, analysis, and problem resolution.
- Review team outputs for accuracy and compliance with engineering standards.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians and electricians during construction and testing.
- Support testing, commissioning, and remote troubleshooting of hydrogen infrastructure systems.
Qualifications
10,000 psi) in gas applications is an asset.
